Water sorption, water solubility, degree of conversion, elastic indentation modulus, edge chipping resistance and flexural strength of 3D-printed denture base resins

Veronika Greil et al.

Summary: This study investigated the water sorption, water solubility, degree of conversion, elastic indentation modulus, edge chipping resistance and flexural strength of 3D-printed, milled and conventionally polymerized denture base resin materials. The results showed that most 3D-printed denture base resins had higher water sorption and water solubility, but also higher elastic indentation modulus and flexural strength. Only a few materials met the threshold values defined by the ISO norms for degree of conversion and flexural strength.

Effect of post-curing light exposure time on the physico-mechanical properties and cytotoxicity of 3D-printed denture base material

Sultan Aati et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effect of post curing light exposure time on the physico-mechanical properties and cytotoxicity of a 3D-printed PMMA-based denture material. The results showed that the flexural strength, toughness, and surface hardness of the material significantly improved with longer post curing time, and the cell viability also increased.

Durable Oral Biofilm Resistance of 3D-Printed Dental Base Polymers Containing Zwitterionic Materials

Jae-Sung Kwon et al.

Summary: The study found that adding MPC or SB to 3D-printed PMMA specimens significantly reduced bacterial and biofilm adhesion, with minimal degradation in mechanical properties that still met international standards, and resistance to biofilm was maintained after hydrothermal fatigue testing.

Postpolymerization of a 3D-printed denture base polymer: Impact of post-curing methods on surface characteristics, flexural strength, and cytotoxicity

Ping Li et al.

Summary: Different post-curing methods did not significantly alter the surface topography and roughness (Ra) of the 3D-printed denture base material. However, specimens post-cured by PCU and PB showed significantly higher flexural strength than other methods. Additionally, various post-curing methods effectively decreased the cytotoxic effects of the 3D-printed denture base polymer.

Repairability of a 3D printed denture base polymer: Effects of surface treatment and artificial aging on the shear bond strength

Ping Li et al.

Summary: The present study aimed to evaluate the repairability of a 3D printed denture base material, investigating the effects of surface treatments and artificial aging on shear bond strength (SBS). The 3D printed denture base material exhibited favorable repairability with satisfactory SBS at the bonding interface for realigned surfaces, but significantly decreased SBS for aged surfaces, necessitating subtractive surface treatments.

3D-Printed vs. Heat-Polymerizing and Autopolymerizing Denture Base Acrylic Resins

Leila Perea-Lowery et al.

Summary: The study found that the mechanical properties of the heat-cured polymer were superior to the 3D-printed material under different post-curing methods, and increasing the post-curing temperature could enhance the flexural properties of resin monomers used for 3D-printing dental appliances.

Effect of Post-Process Curing and Washing Time on Mechanical Properties of mSLA Printouts

Bartlomiej Nowacki et al.

Summary: The study explores the impact of post-processing on the mechanical properties of elements produced using mask stereolithography, showing that post-curing time strongly affects tensile and bending strength, and improves surface quality. Washing has an uncertain effect on strength, but extending washing time slightly reduces strength. Additionally, washing significantly impacts printout surface quality.
