Using surround DIC to extract true stress-strain curve from uniaxial tension experiments

Benoit Jordan et al.

Summary: The stress-strain curve can be obtained from uniaxial tension experiments until the onset of diffuse necking. Other experimental methods such as bulge, compression or torsion experiments are used to understand the post-necking hardening response of metals. This study proposes using surround DIC to accurately measure the shape of tensile specimens. By combining the axial strain history with the average axial stress, the stress-strain curve up to a strain of 1 can be extracted. The estimation uncertainty of this procedure is similar to experimental uncertainties.

Enhancing the information-richness of sheet metal specimens for inverse identification of plastic anisotropy through strain fields

Y. Zhang et al.

Summary: Advanced anisotropic constitutive models involve a large number of model parameters, but inverse identification through a single heterogeneous experiment combined with full-field deformation fields can reduce the experimental effort. The user dependency in designing information-rich experiments can be eliminated through shape optimization, and the heterogeneity indicator can accurately predict the identification quality and improve the identifiability of parameters.

Parameter identifiability analysis: Mitigating the non-uniqueness issue in the inverse identification of an anisotropic yield function

Y. Zhang et al.

Summary: A large number of conventional mechanical tests are required to calibrate advanced anisotropic yield functions, but non-conventional mechanical tests can reduce the experimental effort via inverse identification methods. Gradient-based inverse identification methods may yield non-unique solutions for advanced anisotropic yield functions. The identifiability analysis framework helps to efficiently quantify the parameters sensitivity strength and interactions, enabling reliable identification of all anisotropy parameters.
