The Orphan GPR50 Receptor Regulates the Aggressiveness of Breast Cancer Stem-like Cells via Targeting the NF-kB Signaling Pathway

Polash Kumar Biswas et al.

Summary: In this study, the expression of GPR50 in CSLC and breast cancer cell lines was evaluated, and its role in CSLC progression was investigated. Knockdown of GPR50 in CSLC resulted in decreased cancer properties and stemness. GPR50 was found to regulate NF-kB and NOTCH signaling pathways, as well as ADAM-17 activity, in CSLC. Overall, this study provided novel insights into GPR50-mediated regulation of the NF-kappa B-Notch signaling pathway in CSLC and its implications for treatment strategies.

Protodioscin inhibits bladder cancer cell migration and growth, and promotes apoptosis through activating JNK and p38 signaling pathways

Yuan-Ru Chen et al.

Summary: This study found that Protodioscin has inhibitory effects on cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and EMT in bladder cancer cells. Moreover, Protodioscin can induce cell apoptosis and arrest cell cycle progression, and it exerts its anti-cancer effects through regulating the MAPK and PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathways.

Protein pI and Intracellular Localization

Alexander A. Tokmakov et al.

Summary: The protein isoelectric point (pI) can be calculated computationally from an amino acid sequence, and studies have shown that protein pI distributions are multimodal in different species, possibly due to differences in local pI distributions related to subcellular localization specificity.

Highly accurate protein structure prediction with AlphaFold

John Jumper et al.

Summary: Proteins are essential for life, and accurate prediction of their structures is a crucial research problem. Current experimental methods are time-consuming, highlighting the need for accurate computational approaches to address the gap in structural coverage. Despite recent progress, existing methods fall short of atomic accuracy in protein structure prediction.

MEGA11 Molecular Evolutionary Genetics Analysis Version 11

Koichiro Tamura et al.

Summary: MEGA software, a mature tool for computational molecular evolution, has been enhanced with new additions for building timetrees of species, pathogens, and gene families using rapid relaxed-clock methods. These additions include methods for estimating divergence times, confidence intervals, and new options for tagging sequences with spatiotemporal sampling information. The enhancements aim to improve user experience, result quality, and the pace of biological discovery.
