A many-objective evolutionary algorithm with adaptive convergence calculation

Mengzhen Wang et al.

Summary: A many-objective evolutionary algorithm with an adaptive convergence calculation method (ACC-MaOEA) is designed. It estimates the shape of the Pareto front (PF) by comparing distances and determines a reference point for convergence calculation based on PF shape. The experimental results demonstrate that ACC-MaOEA outperforms its competitors, especially on regular PF problems.

A Review on Constraint Handling Techniques for Population-based Algorithms: from single-objective to multi-objective optimization

Iman Rahimi et al.

Summary: This study analyzes scholarly literature on constraint-handling techniques for single-objective and multi-objective population-based algorithms. The results show that the constraint-handling techniques for multi-objective optimization have received less attention compared to single-objective optimization. Genetic algorithms, differential evolutionary algorithms, and particle swarm intelligence are identified as the most promising algorithms for such optimization. Future research work is anticipated to increase in Engineering, Computer Science, and Mathematics.

Deep Contrastive Representation Learning With Self-Distillation

Zhiwen Xiao et al.

Summary: Recently, contrastive learning has emerged as a promising method for learning discriminative representations from time series data. However, existing algorithms mostly focus on high-level semantic information, neglecting the importance of low-level semantic information. In this paper, we propose a novel deep contrastive representation learning with self-distillation (DCRLS) method, which combines data augmentation, deep contrastive learning, and self distillation. Experimental results show that the DCRLS-based structures achieve excellent performance on classification and clustering tasks.

The KKT optimality conditions for optimization problem with interval-valued objective function on Hadamard manifolds

Sheng-lan Chen

Summary: In this paper, the authors investigate the Karush-Kuhn-Tucker optimality conditions in an optimization problem with interval-valued objective function on Hadamard manifolds. They define the gH-directional differentiability for interval-valued functions using the generalized Hukuhara difference. They also introduce the concepts of interval-valued convexity and pseudoconvexity on Hadamard manifolds, and provide several properties related to such functions. Under these settings, they derive the KKT optimality conditions and demonstrate the generality of their results through a numerical example.

An adaptive convergence enhanced evolutionary algorithm for many-objective optimization problems

Ying Xu et al.

Summary: This article addresses the challenge of balancing convergence and diversity in evolutionary computation for solving many-objective optimization problems. A new preferred solution selection strategy is proposed to enhance convergence pressure by selecting non-dominated solutions with better convergence. The number of special solutions is adaptively updated to dynamically adjust the convergence pressure of the population. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed convergence enhanced evolutionary algorithm (CEEA) outperforms state-of-the-art many-objective evolutionary algorithms.

Qiuyue Liu et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a new decision variable classification method for multiobjective evolutionary algorithms by analyzing the monotonicities of objectives. Based on this method, a new directional crossover method is designed for generating promising solutions. The paper also introduces an interval mapping strategy for obtaining solutions with good diversity. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm has high competitiveness in dealing with many-objective optimization problems.

Summary: Optimization is a decision-making process that maximizes or minimizes a predefined objective function to represent the overall behavior of a system. Multi-objective optimization considers the maximization or minimization of multiple objective functions to achieve acceptable performance levels. This paper introduces the MOMGA algorithm, a multi-objective version of the MGA algorithm, which provides acceptable results for multi-objective optimization problems.
