Integrated model for optimal energy management and demand response of microgrids considering hybrid hydrogen-battery storage systems

Dalia Yousri et al.

Summary: This study proposes an integrated energy management system (IEMS) to optimize the operation schedule of a hybrid hydrogen-battery (HHB) storage system and provide demand response (DR) in microgrids. The proposed IEMS aims to minimize electricity and battery degradation costs, customers' discomfort, and peak-to-average ratio (PAR) to achieve optimal energy management. Comparative analyses with conventional energy management strategies show that the proposed IEMS achieves better optimization results.

Multiobjective home energy management systems in nearly-zero energy buildings under uncertainties considering vehicle-to-home: A novel lexicographic-based stochastic-information gap decision theory approach

Marcos Tostado-Veliz et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a solution for Home Energy Management (HEM) systems in nearly-Zero Energy Buildings (nZEBs) that can effectively deal with uncertainties caused by renewable generation and emerging appliances. The solution uses lexicographic optimization to find a compromise solution among objectives and a hybrid stochastic-Information Gap Decision Theory (IGDT) approach to adequately model uncertainties. A case study is conducted to validate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

MILP-based model predictive control for home energy management systems: A real case study in Algarve, Portugal

I. L. R. Gomes et al.

Summary: This paper introduces an innovative home energy management system (HEMS) based on mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) model predictive control. The system optimizes HEMS operation using a receding-horizon formulation and is designed for a residence in Algarve, Portugal. The results demonstrate the superiority of the MILP-based model predictive control over a commercial PV-battery management system, with statistical significance.

A study of charging-dispatch strategies and vehicle-to-grid technologies for electric vehicles in distribution networks

Muhammad Shahid Mastoi et al.

Summary: This article discusses various electric vehicle charging and discharging strategies (EVs) and V2G technologies and their impacts on energy distribution networks. The use of V2G application on vehicles has many benefits, including active power regulation, reactive power support, load balancing, and current harmonic filtering. However, there are also challenges such as reduced battery life, communication overhead, and changes in distribution network infrastructure. The article provides a comprehensive analysis of different charging and discharging methods and discusses the challenges and issues from an aggregator's perspective.

A hyper-matheuristic approach for solving mixed integer linear optimization models in the context of data envelopment analysis

Martin Gonzalez et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a new hyper-heuristic algorithm based on MILP decomposition to solve mixed integer linear programming problems in the framework of data envelopment analysis. The method decomposes the optimization problem into discrete and continuous variable sets, and applies different optimization methods to each subproblem. Experimental results show that the solutions obtained through this approach outperform those achieved by solving the problem globally using a metaheuristic method.
