Older age as a time to contribute: a scoping review of generativity in later life

Feliciano Villar et al.

Summary: Research on later-life generativity has challenged traditional perceptions of older adults and highlighted their capacities and contributions. This study conducted a scoping review to examine the evolution of research in this area, the aspects studied, and the dominant methodological and epistemological approaches. The review revealed steady growth in the research on generativity in later life, with certain approaches and cultural contexts receiving more attention. However, the study also identified critical gaps and research questions that need to be addressed in future research.

Characteristics of community-based exercise programs for community-dwelling older adults in rural/regional areas: a scoping review

Samantha Fien et al.

Summary: Community-based exercise programs for older adults in rural/regional areas have the potential to mitigate decline in functional outcomes, body composition, psychosocial outcomes, and cardiovascular health outcomes. However, there is limited understanding of the characteristics and effectiveness of these programs, with an emphasis on functional and psychosocial outcomes. More research is needed on body composition, cardiovascular health, and dietary outcomes, as well as male representation in these programs.
