Clinical outcomes and influence of material parameters on the behavior and survival rate of thin and ultrathin occlusal veneers: A systematic review

Summary: This review investigates the clinical observational findings and in-vitro outcomes of thin and ultrathin occlusal veneers using different materials and approaches. It concludes that clinically used 1 mm lithium disilicate overlays and ultrathin one-step no-prep polymer infiltrated ceramic network (PICN) occlusal veneers exhibit high success and survival rates. The analysis of in-vitro studies shows variable survival rates and fracture load values based on materials, thickness, and restorative approaches used.

CAD-CAM natural restorations-Reproducing nature using a digital workflow

Summary: This article describes the use of an interdisciplinary digital workflow combined with CAD/CAM natural restorations to achieve a natural anterior rehabilitation. By performing periodontal surgery to recreate the gingival contour and utilizing CAD/CAM ceramic veneers, the patient's esthetic concerns were addressed. The design and manufacturing of CAD/CAM natural restorations using a digital workflow allowed for a predictable result and overcame the limitations of conventional shell technique.

Effect of different span lengths with different total occlusal convergences on the accuracy of intraoral scanners

Summary: The effect of span lengths and total occlusal convergence (TOC) on the accuracy of intraoral scanners was assessed. The results showed that scanner type, TOC, and scan spans all had an impact on the intraoral scan results, but the accuracy of different scanners was still within clinically acceptable range.

Influence of 3D analysis software on measured deviations of CAD-CAM resin crowns from virtual design file: An in-vitro study

Summary: This study evaluated the performance of nonmetrology-grade and metrology-grade 3D analysis software in measuring the deviations of CAD-CAM fabricated crowns. The results showed that the nonmetrology-grade software performed similarly to the metrology-grade software. The clinical significance of this study is that using nonmetrology-grade software for 3D analysis of crowns after fabrication may facilitate adjustments and delivery.

The results showed that the 3ShapeE4 and Medit T710 scanners had the highest accuracy. These tested scanners can be used for scanning of All-on-four implant supported prosthesis.

Ultrathin CAD-CAM glass-ceramic and composite resin occlusal veneers for the treatment of severe dental erosion: An up to 3-year randomized clinical trial

Summary: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the influence of computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD-CAM) restorative materials (ceramic versus composite resin) on the clinical performance of ultrathin occlusal veneers bonded to worn posterior teeth. The results showed that ceramic and composite resin ultrathin occlusal veneers presented statistically comparable performance, although the composite resin group experienced higher surface degradation.
