Stability of perovskite solar cells: issues and prospects

Challenges and Progress in Lead-Free Halide Double Perovskite Solar Cells

Summary: Lead-free halide double perovskites (HDPs) are attractive alternatives to address the toxicity issue in lead-based halide perovskites (APbX(3)). HDPs exhibit excellent stability, diverse combinations, and appealing optoelectronic features. However, the power conversion efficiency of HDP solar cells still lags behind that of lead-based counterparts. This review focuses on HDPs with intriguing electronic and optical properties, analyzes the current challenges in material properties and device fabrication, and highlights promising approaches to overcome these limitations.

Surface Reconstruction for Efficient Cs2AgBiBr6 Solar Cells

Summary: This work presents a surface reconstruction strategy to improve the crystalline quality and surface composition stoichiometry ratio of Cs2AgBiBr6 films. The dissolution-recrystallization process effectively reduces the trap density, extends the carrier lifetime, improves the interfacial contact, and enhances the carrier extraction. Cs2AgBiBr6-based PSCs fabricated by this strategy achieve significantly higher power conversion efficiency, fill factor, and open-circuit voltage, with good stability and broad applicability. The study provides insights into enhancing the quality of lead-free double perovskite films and optimizing the photovoltaic performance of PSCs.

Summary: In this study, n-i-p perovskite solar cells (PSCs) were successfully fabricated using dopant-free 2,7-dioctyl[1]benzothieno[3,2-b][1]benzothiophene (C8-BTBT) as the solution-processed hole transporting layer (HTL). The optimized device with C8-BTBT film showed a high power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 22.45% and good stability against moisture and high temperature. A thin dopant-free C8-BTBT HTL played a critical role in hole extraction, transport, and enhancing the stability of the PSCs.

Dual-Interface Modification with BMIMPF6 for High-Efficiency and Stable Carbon-Based CsPbI2Br Perovskite Solar Cells
