Mn3O4-CeO2 Hollow Nanospheres for Electrochemical Determination of Hydrogen Peroxide

Li Liu et al.

Summary: Introducing hollow structure through self-assembly and hard-templating methods enhances the electrochemical sensing performance of manganese oxide-based materials. In this study, hollow nanospheres of Mn3O4-CeO2 were synthesized using cerium oxide as the support skeleton, resulting in superior catalytic activity for hydrogen peroxide electroreduction. The molar ratios of Ce and Mn were found to affect the structure and electrocatalytic properties of the synthesized hollow nanospheres. The Mn3O4-CeO2 hollow nanospheres displayed a wide linear response range and high sensitivity for H2O2 detection, along with excellent stability, selectivity, and recovery in actual samples.

Oxygen vacancy boosted microwave absorption in CeO2 hollow nanospheres

Xinxin Wang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that oxygen vacancy engineering can modulate the electric structure and properties of metal oxides to enhance microwave absorption. By tuning the thermal conversion temperatures, dual-shell CeO2 nanospheres with high oxygen vacancy concentration and proper conductivity can achieve superior microwave absorption capabilities.

Interface Reactions Dominate Low-Temperature CO Oxidation Activity over Pt/CeO2

Noemi Bosio et al.

Summary: This study uses first-principles-based kinetic Monte Carlo simulations and kinetic experiments to investigate CO oxidation over Pt/CeO2, showing that the reaction orders over Pt/CeO2 are close to zero for both CO and O-2, indicating the absence of CO/O-2 site competition and highlighting the relevance of interface reactions.

Liquid-Phase Synthesis of Highly Reactive Rare-Earth Metal Nanoparticles

Daniel Bartenbach et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates the first liquid-phase synthesis of high-quality, small-sized rare-earth metal nanoparticles, which exhibit both high reactivity and chemical stability under inert conditions. The reactivity of the nanoparticles can be controlled to achieve reactions at room temperature, leading to the formation of inorganic and metal-organic compounds.

Spatiotemporal Investigation of the Temperature and Structure of a Pt/CeO2 Oxidation Catalyst for CO and Hydrocarbon Oxidation during Pulse Activation

Florian Maurer et al.

Summary: The study found that reductive pulse activation leads to an increase in overall catalyst activity and the generation of different particle size zones within the catalyst bed. Activation temperature and pulse length influence the noble metal particle size, and this activation method could potentially be applied to industrially relevant catalysts in the future.

Facile Fabrication of CeO2-Al2O3 Hollow Sphere with Atomically Dispersed Fe via Spray Pyrolysis

Xin-Pu Fu et al.

Summary: A facile spray pyrolysis method was used to construct hollow CeO2-Al2O3 spheres with atomically dispersed Fe. The differences in pyrolysis temperature of precursors and heat transfer were crucial to the formation of the hollow nanostructure. Iron species were in situ atomically dispersed on the hollow spheres, showing potential in converting syn-gas to valuable gasoline products.
