One-time removal of Cr(VI) and carbon tetrachloride from groundwater by silicate stabilized green rust: The slow release of reactive sites driven by Fe (III)-Cr(III) oxides formation

Jinxin Zhao et al.

Summary: This study investigated the simultaneous removal of Cr(VI) and carbon tetrachloride (CT) using stabilized green rust chloride-silicate (GR(Cl)-Si). The results showed that the presence of Cr(VI) promoted the CT removal by GR(Cl)-Si. The study emphasized the importance of Fe(III)-Cr(III) precipitation and environmental behavior in the remediation of contaminated sites polluted with Cr(VI) and chlorinated compounds.

Nano-Fe1-xS embedded BCAA/Fe3O4 as the stabilized catalyst for simultaneous quinclorac oxidation and Cr(VI) reduction

Wenbin Gao et al.

Summary: Nano-Fe1-xS modified by stable iron oxide (Fe3O4) and biochar (BCAA/Fe1-xS/Fe3O4) achieved high removal efficiency of QNC and Cr(VI). Fe(II) species in the composite played a crucial role in the degradation of QNC and reduction of Cr(VI), while S(II) species indirectly promoted the Fe2+/Fe3+ cycling.

Stabilized green rusts for aqueous Cr(VI) removal: Fast kinetics, high iron utilization rate and anti-acidification

Jinxin Zhao et al.

Summary: Green rusts (GRs) were stabilized by selected regents and used for Cr(VI) removal. The stabilized GR showed suppressed release of Fe(II) and efficient transfer of Cr(VI) into stable Cr(III)-Fe(III) precipitates.

In-situ synthesized iron-based bimetal promotes efficient removal of Cr(VI) in by zero-valent iron-loaded hydroxyapatite

Weichun Yang et al.

Summary: An innovative strategy of in-situ synthesized iron-based bimetal was developed to activate passivated ZVI, resulting in a significantly decreased activation energy for Cr(VI) reduction and a much higher removal efficiency. The strategy also achieved synchronous removal of Cr(VI) and Cu2+, providing a novel pattern for remediation of combined contaminants.

Oxalate Modification Dramatically Promoted Cr(VI) Removal with Zero-Valent Iron

Minzi Liao et al.

Summary: Oxalate modification significantly enhances the removal performance of ZVI for Cr(VI) by promoting electron transfer and increasing surface Fe(II) production. The continuous high removal activity of OA-ZVI for Cr(VI) after multiple cycles demonstrates its potential for practical application in treating Cr(VI)-containing wastewaters. The study highlights the importance of surface functional groups in enhancing the Cr(VI) removal property of ZVI and provides an environmentally friendly surface modification method.
