This article is a translation of an interview with Ochy Curiel Pichardo. The interview took place during the SWS 2023 Winter Meeting and focused on the topic of decolonial feminisms. Curiel Pichardo's theoretical work and feminist praxis were the main focus of the interview. The article also mentions Curiel Pichardo's keynote speech from the 2022 winter meeting, where she discussed how her experiences, research, and actions have contributed to feminism.
This is a lightly edited transcription of an interview with Ochy Curiel Pichardo, which took place at the Sociologists for Women in Society (SWS) 2023 Winter Meeting during the panel titled, Decolonial Feminisms: An Interview with Ochy Curiel, Inaugural SWS Honorary Feminist Sociology Distinction Recipient. The interview was conducted in Spanish and is translated into English here. Based on Curiel Pichardo's notable trajectory as an activist scholar devoted to decolonial projects, Roberta Villalon, the SWS President who created and awarded the distinction, conducted the interview focusing on the distinguishing aspects of her theoretical body of work and feminist praxis. Both the original interview and Curiel Pichardo's keynote speech from the 2022 winter meeting, in which she shared how her experiences, research, and action have contributed to feminism, can be accessed on the SWS YouTube Channel
