Volatile Aroma Surfactants: The Evaluation of the Adsorption-Evaporation Behavior under Dynamic and Equilibrium Conditions

Oxana A. Soboleva et al.

Summary: This study reveals the individual interfacial activity and adsorption-evaporation behavior of amphiphilic aroma molecules at the liquid-vapor interface. The results highlight the advantages of volatile amphiphiles as cosurfactants in dynamic interfacial processes and provide a method for selecting volatile cosurfactants for specific applications.

Tensiometry as a Simple Analytical Method for Quantification of Solubility and Release of Aroma Molecules in Aqueous Media

Ruth Kudla et al.

Summary: Dynamic tensiometry is a high-potential analytical tool for assessing physico-chemical characteristics of fragrance molecules. It is sensitive to the composition of fragrances and can be used for detecting purity of essential oils, optimizing compositions, and assessing release/evaporation of fragrances.

Kinetics of transfer of volatile amphiphiles (fragrances) from vapors to aqueous drops and vice versa: Interplay of diffusion and barrier mechanisms

Krassimir D. Danov et al.

Summary: This study investigates the kinetics of mass transfer of volatile amphiphiles. The results provide insights on adsorption, diffusion, and desorption of amphiphiles, showing a mixed barrier-diffusion control during adsorption from vapor to aqueous drops and a convection-enhanced adsorption mechanism during evaporation from aqueous amphiphile solution drops. The obtained physicochemical parameters of the studied fragrances can help in understanding their performance in shampoo systems and perfumes. By introducing an effective amphiphile desorption rate constant, the complex volatile amphiphile desorption accompanied with water evaporation can be quantified.
