Synthesis and modification of photoluminescence and dielectric properties of novel fluorophosphate glass by incorporating different transition metal oxides for optoelectronic applications

O. I. Sallam et al.

Summary: Novel fluorophosphate glass systems were fabricated via conventional melting with the composition of 20NaF-60P2O5-20Na2O doped with 3 wt % transition metals (CuO, CoO, Fe2O3 , and NiO). The effects of transition metal doping on the photoluminescence (PL) and dielectric properties of the base systems were investigated. The sample doped with Fe2O3 showed the lowest PL intensity, while CuO displayed the highest PL intensity. Adding CuO and Fe2O3 enhanced the dielectric parameters slightly. The base composite doped with CuO and Fe2O3 exhibited the highest energy density values, while NiO and CoO-doped systems had the lowest energy density values. The ac conductivity of the base system was improved by CuO and Fe2O3 doping, while CoO and NiO hindered the charge carriers' motion and decreased conductivity. Non-Debye-type relaxation processes were dominant in all the investigated systems.

Influence of Fe2O3@reduced graphene oxide nanocomposite on the structural, morphological, and optical features of the polyvinyl alcohol films for optoelectronic applications

R. M. Ahmed et al.

Summary: Polyvinyl alcohol films doped with Fe2O3-reduced graphene oxide nanoparticles were prepared using a casting-method. The optical properties of the obtained films were characterized and the effect of Fe2O3-rGO nanoparticle doping on the films' ability to transmit visible light was investigated. Increasing the amount of doped Fe2O3-rGO nanoparticles in the films resulted in a decrease in light transmission and an improvement in solar material protection factor. The refractive index and dielectric relaxation behavior of the films were also affected by the nanoparticle doping.

Linear and Nonlinear Optical Properties of PVA:SA Blend Reinforced by TiO2 Nanoparticles Prepared by Flower Extract of Aloe Vera for Optoelectronic Applications

Rania Khalil et al.

Summary: In this study, TiO2 nanoparticles doped in a blend of polyvinyl alcohol and sodium alginate were investigated. The properties of the nanocomposites were analyzed, including the third-order susceptibility and refractive index, as well as other optical parameters. It was found that the addition of 5 wt.% of TiO2 nanoparticles significantly improved the solar skin protection factor of the blend. The nanocomposites were also shown to effectively block laser light. The presence and dispersion of TiO2 nanoparticles in the blend were confirmed by EDX and SEM analysis.

Tuning of smart cobalt doped borate glasses by electron beam as band-pass filters

O. I. Sallam et al.

Summary: CoO-doped lithium borate glass samples were prepared and their optical properties were studied. The addition of CoO resulted in a decrease in ETauc and an increase in UV-Visible cutoff range due to increased non-bridging oxygen concentration. Co2+ ions were detected in both tetrahedral and octahedral positions in the glass matrix. The glass filters exhibited broad band-pass in the Vis-NIR region and increased stopping range when subjected to electron beam irradiation.

Effect of gamma ray irradiation on optical and luminescence properties of CeO2 doped bismuth glass

Sitendu Mandal et al.

Summary: In order to design environmentally friendly and non-toxic lead-free glass for nuclear applications, a lead-free glass based on a multi-component Bi2O3-BaO-B2O3-ZnO-As2O3-MgO-Na2O system has been studied with different concentrations of CeO2 to enhance radiation shielding. The optical properties of the cerium-doped bismuth-based lead-free radiation shielding glass were studied after exposure to gamma radiation. The glass structure and properties were analyzed using Raman spectroscopy, XRD, Photoluminescence (PL), FESEM with EDAX, refractive index measurement, and dilatometry test.

Investigation of Sm2O3 effect on opto-electrical parameters and dielectric properties of some fluorophosphate glasses

R. M. Ahmed et al.

Summary: The study showed that increasing Sm2O3 content in the glass matrix leads to a gradual decrease in penetration depth and reduces the ability of visible light to transmit through the glasses. The lowest visible solar transmittance was observed for glass with the highest Sm2O3 content. The nonlinear optical susceptibility and refractive index of the glasses were influenced by the Sm2O3 content.

Influence of gamma-irradiation on the optical and structural properties of Se85Te15-xBix nano-thin chalcogenide films

Shamshad A. Khan et al.

Summary: Bulk Se85Te15-xBix chalcogenide glasses were synthesized using melt quenching technique, and nanothin chalcogenide films of Se85Te15-xBix alloys were deposited on glass/Si wafer by PVCT. The optical and structural properties were analyzed by exposing the films to different doses of gamma irradiation, which led to variations in optical parameters and an increase in indirect band gap with higher irradiation doses. These changes were attributed to increased disorder and lattice strain caused by gamma irradiation.

Summary: This study investigates the effects of cesium lead bromide perovskite quantum dots (PQDs) on the structural and optical properties of conjugated polymer blends. The addition of PQDs improves the crystallinity and surface roughness of the composite films, while decreasing the local density of electronic states within the forbidden bandgap. The presence of PQDs also enhances non-radiative energy transfer processes in the hybrids, which is important for the development of optimized optoelectronic devices.
