Ultrathin Wood-Derived Conductive Carbon Composite Film for Electromagnetic Shielding and Electric Heating Management

Xiaofan Ma et al.

Summary: Wood-based composites have gained widespread attention in the field of electromagnetic interference shielding due to their sustainability and layered porous structure. This study focuses on preparing ultrathin wood-based films for electromagnetic interference shielding. By cutting wood parallel to the annual rings, ultrathin veneer is obtained and then compressed and carbonized to form a carbonized wood film (CWF). The CWF exhibits high EMI shielding effectiveness and an excellent Joule heating effect, making it a promising alternative to traditional non-renewable and expensive electromagnetic shielding materials.

Reprocessable thermal interface materials with optimized phonon transport based on Diels-Alder click chemistry

Yingchun Liu et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the use of bio-based epoxy, phosphorus-nitrogen curing agents, graphite flakes, and 4,4 & PRIME;-methylenebis(cyclohexylamine) to reduce the thermal resistance of thermal interface materials (TIM). The interaction between graphite flakes and epoxy resin is optimized using the Diels-Alder reaction, resulting in low interface thermal resistance and improved heat conduction capability. This research provides a facile method for tuning the interfacial thermal conduction of carbon-based thermal management materials.

Joule Heating and mechanical properties of epoxy/graphene based aerogel composite

Pei Yang et al.

Summary: Polymer composites are considered as a potential alternative for Joule heating materials, with the construction of a continuous conductive network of fillers remaining a challenge. A three-dimensional graphene-based aerogel infiltrated with epoxy demonstrated excellent Joule heating performance, showcasing high electrical and thermal conductivity along the parallel direction to the lamellar structure growth. The induced steady-state temperature was found to have a linear relationship with the electrical and thermal conductivities of the materials, indicating potential for thermal management applications.

Chenbo Meng et al.

Summary: The research demonstrates that aromatic macromolecules with smaller conformational changes are more effective in stabilizing graphene when adsorbed on its surface. By tailoring entropy, the chemical structure can be optimized to achieve high-quality graphene nanosheets through direct exfoliation of natural graphite flakes.

Thermal stability of C-F/C(-F)2 bonds in fluorinated graphene detected by in situ heating infrared spectroscopy

Yulong Li et al.

Summary: The thermal stability of fluorinated graphene (FG) was studied by synthesizing FG with different types and distributions of C-F/C(-F)(2) bonds, and monitoring the correlation between these bonds and the thermal stability using in situ heating infrared spectroscopy (in situ FTIR). It was found that the type and distribution of C-F bonds affected the thermal stability of FG, with isolated C-F bonds and C(-F)(2) bonds adjacent to the conjugated structure exhibiting the worst stability and detaching at low temperatures. Additionally, the evolution of conjugated structures in FG during thermal annealing was influenced by the type and distribution of C-F bonds.
