Synthesis, Hirshfeld surface analysis, computational, wave function properties, anticancer and cytotoxicity activity of di[(p-chlorobenzyl) (dibromo)] (4,7-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline)tin (IV) complex

T. Sanakarganesan et al.

Summary: Complex di[(p-chlorobenzyl) (dibromo)] (4,7-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline)tin (IV) (SA1) was synthesized by reacting 4,7-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline with selected di[(p-chlorobenzyl) (dibromide)] in methanol. The complex SA1 showed good stability in dry air and could be dissolved in various organic solvents in moist air. Spectral, structural, theoretical, and biological analyses supported the expected molecular structures of the complex. The molecular structure and geometry were determined using DFT and X-ray analysis. Topological studies were conducted to identify the main binding areas and weak interactions in the molecule.

Metal Complexes or Chelators with ROS Regulation Capacity: Promising Candidates for Cancer Treatment

Xiang Li et al.

Summary: Reactive oxygen species (ROS) play crucial roles in biological functions and cancer progression. Intervention in the ROS homeostasis of cancer cells through chelating agents or metal complexes is an important anti-cancer strategy, as it can inhibit the activity of antioxidant enzymes or directly regulate ROS levels. This review comprehensively analyzes metal complexes or chelators with ROS regulation capacity, aiming to develop novel inorganic anti-cancer drugs based on ROS regulation.
