Field-Free Magnetoplasmon-Induced Ultraviolet Circular Dichroism Switching in Premagnetized Magnetic Nanowires

Jun-Xiao Lin et al.

Summary: Broadband modulation of magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) was achieved by integrating noble metals (NMs) Au and Ag with Co/ZnO nanowires (NWs). The addition of NMs caused MCD sign reversals and enhancements compared to the original Co/ZnO NWs. The magnetoplasmonic effect induced by Au and Ag in the visible and UV spectrum respectively played a crucial role in the changes of MCD. These findings could be applied in magneto-optical recording, biosensing, and energy applications.

Electrodeposition current density induced texture and grain boundary engineering in Sn coatings for enhanced corrosion resistance

Abhay Gupta et al.

Summary: Sn coatings electrodeposited at different current densities exhibited varying corrosion resistance, with the coating fabricated at 20 mA cm-2 showing the highest resistance. The presence of certain grain boundaries, twin boundaries, and texture were found to enhance corrosion resistance, while specific growth textures were linked to decreased corrosion resistance in the coatings.

Unlocking information about fine magnetic particle assemblages from first-order reversal curve diagrams: Recent advances

Andrew P. Roberts et al.

Summary: The magnetic domain state of a material determines its magnetic properties. However, constraining the domain state of magnetic components within complex natural mineral assemblages is challenging. First-order reversal curve (FORC) diagrams have been developed as a diagnostic tool for domain state identification. Recent developments include enhanced domain state diagnosis, recognition of vortex state signatures, identification of magnetic anisotropy types, and machine learning approaches for optimal FORC distribution selection. Additionally, a new FORC measurement protocol enables identification of magnetically viscous particles and quantitative separation of magnetic mineral mixtures.

The role of the addition of Cu in alloyed and multilayered Fe-based nanowires

M. Kac et al.

Summary: This research focused on the influence of Cu addition on the structure and magnetic properties of FeCu-alloyed and Fe/Cu-multilayered nanowires. It was found that Cu addition prevents oxidation and increases magnetic anisotropy and squareness. The increase in Cu concentration in alloyed nanowires leads to higher coercivity and squareness. In the case of multilayered nanowires, increasing Cu layer thickness results in reduced squareness and non-monotonic changes in coercivity.

Guidobeth Saez et al.

Summary: The study investigates the equilibrium energy and stability of a bimodulated nanowire, composed of five elements and leading to 32 possible magnetic configurations. The relative chirality of modulations has negligible impact on energy, while modulation positions play a crucial role in system stability. External magnetic fields showed that over 50 mT are needed to alter the stored information, indicating the potential use of the structure as a magnetic key or for firmware information storage.
