Quercetin Alleviates Deoxynivalenol-Induced Intestinal Damage by Suppressing Inflammation and Ferroptosis in Mice

Yingrong Ye et al.

Summary: This research investigates the potential function of quercetin (QUE) as a treatment for DON-induced intestinal damage. The results show that QUE can attenuate DON-induced intestinal damage in mice by improving jejunal structural injury and suppressing inflammation and oxidative stress. Furthermore, QUE can also reduce DON-induced intestinal ferroptosis. These findings provide a foundation for future prevention and treatment strategies for DON.

Dietary emodin alleviates lipopolysaccharide-induced intestinal mucosal barrier injury by regulating gut microbiota in piglets

Wenjuan Xun et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the effects of dietary emodin (ED) on the intestinal mucosal barrier, NF-kB pathways, and gut microbial flora in LPS-induced piglets. The results showed that ED supplementation improved the intestinal mucosal barrier, reduced inflammation, and enhanced antioxidant capacity, as well as modulated the gut microbial composition. These findings suggest that ED can alleviate LPS-induced intestinal mucosal barrier injury by modulating gut microbiota.

Luteolin alleviates cognitive impairment in Alzheimer's disease mouse model via inhibiting endoplasmic reticulum stress-dependent neuroinflammation

Jie-jian Kou et al.

Summary: Luteolin, a flavonoid found in fruits, vegetables, and herbs, shows beneficial effects on memory deficits and neuroinflammation in an Alzheimer's disease mouse model. The treatment with luteolin improves learning and memory deficits, inhibits astrocyte activation and neuroinflammation, and reduces ER stress markers in brain tissues. Further research on luteolin as a therapeutic agent for Alzheimer's disease is warranted based on these results.

Guihong Liang et al.

Summary: This study explored the molecular mechanism of luteolin in treating osteoporosis through network pharmacological prediction and experimentation. The results suggest that luteolin has multitarget and multichannel effects in the treatment of osteoporosis. It can reduce bone loss by promoting the osteogenic differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells through regulation of the PI3K-Akt signaling pathway.

Fumonisin B1 induced intestinal epithelial barrier damage through endoplasmic reticulum stress triggered by the ceramide synthase 2 depletion

Mengcong Li et al.

Summary: This study found that FB1 contamination has a toxic effect on the intestine and disrupts its barrier function. FB1 also leads to excessive production of cytokines, further damaging the intestinal immune barrier. By inhibiting the expression of CerS2, FB1 induces endoplasmic reticulum stress, resulting in the destruction of the intestinal barrier. However, this damage can be restored by overexpression of CerS2 or the use of an ER stress inhibitor.

Effects of Deoxynivalenol and Mycotoxin Adsorbent Agents on Mitogen-Activated Protein Kinase Signaling Pathways and Inflammation-Associated Gene Expression in Porcine Intestinal Epithelial Cells

Yu-Hsiang Yu et al.

Summary: The study reveals that DON induces inflammation in porcine intestinal epithelial cells (IPEC-J2) through phosphorylation of MAPK signaling pathways. However, co-treatment with DON and lipopolysaccharide (LPS) does not further enhance the expression of inflammation and tight junction-associated genes. Mycotoxin adsorbent agents can attenuate DON-induced inflammatory responses in IPEC-J2 cells by modulating the phosphorylation of p38, ERK, and JNK.
