Cardiovascular mortality risk a decade after twin and singleton pregnancies complicated by hypertensive disorders of pregnancy

Petra M. van Baar et al.

Summary: This study aimed to describe the cardiovascular mortality (CVM) risk in women after twin versus singleton pregnancies complicated by hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP). The findings showed that women after both twin and singleton pregnancies complicated by HDP are at a similarly increased risk of CVM later in life.

Risk factors and adverse maternal and perinatal outcomes for women with dichorionic twin pregnancies complicated by gestational diabetes mellitus: A retrospective cross-sectional study

Tai-Ho Hung et al.

Summary: Advanced maternal age and pre-pregnancy overweight or obesity are risk factors for GDM in women with DC twins. Except for a nearly twofold increased risk of neonatal intensive care unit admission of newborns, the pregnancy and neonatal outcomes for women with GDM DC twins are similar to those for women with non-GDM DC twins.

Perinatal outcomes and offspring growth profiles in twin pregnancies complicated by gestational diabetes mellitus: A longitudinal cohort study

Youwen Mei et al.

Summary: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) has a greater impact on adverse perinatal outcomes and the risk of childhood overweight at 6 months for monochorionic diamniotic (MCDA) twin pregnancies compared to dichorionic diamniotic (DCDA) twin pregnancies. Twin offspring exposed to GDM had a higher risk of being overweight at 6 months of corrected age regardless of chorionicity.

The Impact of Diagnostic Criteria for Gestational Diabetes Mellitus on Adverse Maternal Outcomes: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Fahimeh Ramezani Tehrani et al.

Summary: This systematic review and meta-analysis found that different GDM diagnostic criteria did not significantly impact the risk of adverse maternal outcomes. Lowering the diagnostic threshold increased the prevalence of GDM, but did not lead to significant differences in the risk of adverse maternal outcomes among women diagnosed through more or less intensive strategies.

Summary: This study found that gestational diabetes mellitus is less likely to be associated with accelerated fetal growth in twin pregnancies compared to singleton pregnancies. The results suggest the need for individualized diagnostic criteria and blood glucose targets for women diagnosed with gestational diabetes mellitus in twin pregnancies.

Prevalence of hypertensive disorders in pregnancy in China: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Fang Li et al.

Summary: The prevalence of hypertensive disorders in pregnancy (HDP) and specific subtypes is relatively high among Chinese pregnant women, with higher rates in Western and Northern China. Pregnant women aged 35 and above, as well as those who are overweight or obese, have a higher likelihood of developing HDP. There are variations in the prevalence of HDP and its subtypes across different regions in China.
