Effect of stress-relief heat treatments on the microstructure and mechanical response of additively manufactured IN625 thin-walled elements

Arunima Banerjee et al.

Summary: Metallic structures fabricated with laser powder-bed fusion often have elemental segregations and residual stresses. This study shows that post-processing heat treatments can minimize these effects. The stress-relief treatment at 800 degrees C for 1 hour is a viable alternative for IN625 samples.

Strong Impact of Minor Elements on the Microstructural Evolution of an Additively Manufactured Inconel 625 Alloy

Mo-Rigen He et al.

Summary: This study characterizes Inconel 625 made with laser powder-bed fusion using comprehensive electron microscopy techniques. It reveals the enrichment of major and minor solutes at dislocation cell walls and the formation of globular precipitates through stress-relief heat treatments. The absence of detrimental phases and the higher concentrations of Si and N contribute to improved mechanical properties.

Stable nitride precipitation in additively manufactured nickel superalloys

J. S. Zuback et al.

Summary: The addition of nitrogen in high temperature alloys leads to the formation of different nitride phases, which can enhance the high temperature and creep properties of the materials. However, there is a scarcity of data for nickel superalloys, making it difficult to accurately predict the formation of various phases.

Effect of Fe and C Contents on the Microstructure and High-Temperature Mechanical Properties of IN625 Alloy Processed by Laser Powder Bed Fusion

Alena Kreitcberg et al.

Summary: This study investigates the influence of different Fe and C contents in two alloys on the microstructure and mechanical properties of Ni-based Inconel 625 superalloy. The results suggest that the alloy with higher Fe content tends to segregate Nb and Mo elements during printing and forms b phase particles during stress relief annealing. In contrast, the alloy with higher C content has a greater tendency to form M6C carbides during solution treatment.
