Identification and optimization methods for delineating ecological red lines in Sichuan Province of southwest China

Multiscale GIS based-model to assess urban social vulnerability and associated risk: Evidence from 146 urban centers of Eastern India

It proposes a quantitative approach to measure social vulnerability and associated risk in urban areas. The study analyzes the spatial heterogeneity of urban social vulnerability in 146 urban centers in Eastern India using GIS and provides insights for policymakers and urban stakeholders to address potential challenges faced by urban residents.

Analysis of the Seismic Vulnerability of Buildings in the Lushan Ms7.0 Earthquake in the Sichuan Province of China

Evaluating urban environment quality (UEQ) for Class-I Indian city: an integrated RS-GIS based exploratory spatial analysis

Spatial distribution and influencing factors of mountainous geological disasters in southwest China: A fine-scale multi-type assessment

The study of potential geological disasters spots and their influencing factors in China's mountainous areas is an underexplored research field. By focusing on Meigu County in Sichuan Province, it is found that potential geological disasters spots exhibit significant spatial heterogeneity and clustering characteristics. These spots are distributed within a specific elevation range, monthly rainfall, vegetation index, and slope aspect range, with factors such as slope, aspect, population density, and rainfall influencing their occurrence.

Automatic identification of buildings vulnerable to debris flows in Sichuan Province, China, by GIS analysis and Deep Encoding Network methods

Assessment of social vulnerability in areas exposed to multiple hazards: A case study of the Khuzestan Province, Iran

Summary: This study determined the social vulnerability to natural disasters in counties in Khuzestan Province, Iran, by using GIS methods and multi-criteria decision-making procedures. The findings showed that earthquakes and landslides had the greatest impact on the vulnerability of northern and northeastern counties, while floods and dust storms had a greater impact on central, western, and southern counties. Western and eastern counties had the highest levels of social vulnerability, while southern counties had the lowest.

Risk Assessment of Flash Flood to Buildings Using an Indicator-Based Methodology: A Case Study of Mountainous Rural Settlements in Southwest China

Summary: This study proposes an indicator-based approach to assess the risk of buildings threatened by flash floods in southwest China. The flood hazard is simulated using a hydrodynamic model, and information on indicators of exposed buildings and their surroundings is collected through virtual surveys and building census information. The indicator scores are calculated using a building flash flood risk indicator system, and a flood risk index is developed by combining the flood hazard index and building vulnerability index. This method allows for the quantitative assessment of flash flood risk for rural buildings in mountainous areas.

Social vulnerability assessment of landslide disaster based on improved TOPSIS method: Case study of eleven small towns in China

Can Trust Motivate Farmers to Purchase Natural Disaster Insurance? Evidence from Earthquake-Stricken Areas of Sichuan, China

Livelihood resilience and strategies of rural residents of earthquake-threatened areas in Sichuan Province, China

Summary: This study conducted a survey on 327 households in four districts and counties of Sichuan Province, China that were affected by the Wenchuan and Lushan earthquakes, and constructed a framework for analyzing livelihood resilience and livelihood strategy selection. The results show that the majority of households are non-farming, and residents' livelihood resilience is mainly based on their disaster prevention and mitigation capacity. The research deepens our understanding of the relationship between livelihood resilience and livelihood strategy in earthquake-stricken areas.

Geohazard vulnerability assessment in Qiaojia seismic zones, SW China
