A new Ruddlesden-Popper oxide LaSr3Mn1.5Fe1.5O9.71 as photocatalyst for degrading highly toxic dyes in waste water: Structural, magnetic and transport properties

Irfan Qadir et al.

Summary: This paper presents the magnetic, transport, and photo-catalytic properties of a new Sr4Ti3O10-type oxygen deficient Ruddlesden-Popper oxide LaSr3Mn1.5Fe1.5O9.71. The compound is found to be semiconducting with dominant anti-ferromagnetic behavior. It exhibits insulating behavior and the conduction mechanism is dominated by Mott's variable range hopping model. Additionally, the oxide shows excellent photo-catalytic activity for the degradation of dye pollutants.

Solvent-Free Combustion-Assisted Synthesis of LaFe0.5Cr0.5O3 Nanostructures for Excellent Photocatalytic Performance toward Water Decontamination: The Effect of Fuel on Structural, Magnetic, and Photocatalytic Properties

Shikha Sharma et al.

Summary: The present study synthesized nano-crystalline LaFe0.5Cr0.5O3 with superior photocatalytic activity using a solvent-free combustion method. X-ray diffraction data confirmed the presence of an orthorhombic phase and the crystallite size ranged from 20.9 to 36.4 nm. The LaFe0.5Cr0.5O3 prepared with urea showed a higher surface area compared to other fuels. The material exhibited antiferromagnetic behavior and had an optical band gap suitable for visible light photocatalysis. The catalyst fabricated with urea showed excellent degradation efficiency for rhodamine B and could be reused multiple times for degradation.

Dramatic change in the photocatalytic activity of nanocrystalline La1-xNaxFeO3 (x=0.0, 0.1, 0.2 and 0.3) perovskite oxides by the incorporation of Cu for effective removal of dyes

Shikha Sharma et al.

Summary: Wastewater treatment is crucial due to its harmful effects on nature and living creatures. Dyes, especially organic pollutants, pose serious risks to human health and the environment in wastewater. This study focuses on removing these colored effluents from wastewater, both individually and in mixtures. Nano photocatalysts La1-xNaxFeO3 and their Cu composites were synthesized and characterized for their structural, morphological, optical, and magnetic properties. The Cu nano composites exhibited excellent photocatalytic activity, attributed to their low band gap energies. The stability and reusability of the most active photocatalyst, LaFeO3@Cu, were demonstrated. Additionally, the study extended its scope to the degradation of other organic dye contaminants using the same catalyst. (c) 2023 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Different Fuel-Adopted Combustion Syntheses of Nano-Structured NiCrFeO4: A Highly Recyclable and Versatile Catalyst for Reduction of Nitroarenes at Room Temperature and Photocatalytic Degradation of Various Organic Dyes in Unitary and Ternary Solutions

Sumit Singh et al.

Summary: As industrialization progresses, the release of hazardous pollutants into the environment has become a major concern. In this study, a simple and inexpensive combustion method was used to fabricate NiCrFeO4 catalysts, which showed excellent catalytic and photocatalytic properties. The synthesized ferrites demonstrated good photocatalytic activity under visible light, making them potential candidates for the degradation of environmental pollutants. The catalyst NCFP exhibited high stability, greater catalytic efficiency, and cost-effectiveness, making it suitable for industrial applications.

Influence of Cr substitution on structural, optical, and magnetic properties of La2SrFe2O7: Their application as a photocatalyst for the degradation of Rhodamine B dye

Irfan Qadir et al.

Summary: A new series of n = 2 Ruddlesden-Popper (RP) La2SrFe2-xCrxO7 (x = 0.0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, and 0.8) materials were successfully synthesized by Sol-gel Pechini method, and their structural, optical, and magnetic properties were characterized. In addition, the photocatalytic degradation of a dye using the complete n = 2 La2SrFe2-xCrxO7 RP series was reported for the first time. The results showed that Cr3+ doping resulted in a decrease in unit cell parameters and cell volume, as well as the introduction of weak ferromagnetic interactions. Furthermore, the x = 0.2 substituted phase exhibited the highest photocatalytic activity for dye degradation.

Synthesis of Ruddlesden-Popper LaSrFe1-xCrxO4 phases (x=0.0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6) by glycine-nitrate combustion process: Effect of Cr doping on magnetic, optical and photocatalytic properties

Irfan Qadir et al.

Summary: This work presents a study on the synthesis and characterization of new Ruddlesden-Popper phases, LaSrFe1-xCrxO4, and their application in the photocatalytic degradation of dyes. The effect of Cr3+ doping on the crystal structure, optical and magnetic properties of the LaSrFeO4 phase is systematically explored. The results show changes in lattice parameters, unit cell volume, energy band gap, and magnetic interactions with Cr3+ doping. The photocatalytic activity of the phases is enhanced with the addition of Cr3+ substitution.
