Global analysis of switchgrass (Panicum virgatum L.) transcriptomes in response to interactive effects of drought and heat stresses

Rita K. Hayford et al.

Summary: This study investigated the response of switchgrass to combined drought and high temperature stress using transcriptomic approaches. The results showed that the combination of drought and high temperature stress affects the photosynthetic machinery and phenylpropanoid pathway of switchgrass, negatively impacting lignin synthesis and biomass production.

Integrated Analysis of Coding and Non-coding RNAs Reveals the Molecular Mechanism Underlying Salt Stress Response in Medicago truncatula

Yixin An et al.

Summary: Salt stress response in Medicago truncatula involves differentially expressed coding and non-coding RNA, including mRNAs, lncRNAs, circRNAs, and miRNAs, which function in various pathways. The interactions between different RNAs were predicted based on the ceRNA theory, revealing insights into salt stress response in leguminous plants.

Identification and analysis of miRNAs-lncRNAs-mRNAs modules involved in stem-elongation of deepwater rice (Oryza sativa L.)

Alok Kumar Panda et al.

Summary: This study explored the regulation of miRNAs and lncRNAs in response to deepwater stress in rice. Through small RNA-seq and RNA-seq analysis, deepwater stress responsive miRNAs and lncRNAs were predicted. Additionally, a ceRNA study revealed the interactions between certain miRNAs and lncRNAs. Furthermore, transient expression analysis in tobacco leaves provided insights into the regulatory network of miRNAs, lncRNAs, and their target genes in stem elongation under deepwater stress.

Comparative transcriptomics and metabolomics reveal specialized metabolite drought stress responses in switchgrass (Panicum virgatum)

Kira Tiedge et al.

Summary: By analyzing the tissue-specific transcriptome and metabolites of different drought-tolerant genotypes of switchgrass, this study reveals the association between drought tolerance and specialized metabolic pathways. Specific diterpenoids in switchgrass roots accumulate under drought conditions, while triterpenoid abundance remains unchanged.

Fengyan Shi et al.

Summary: This study aimed to identify the global landscape of mRNAs, miRNAs, lncRNAs, and circRNAs related to vernalization in Chinese cabbage. A competitive endogenous RNA network was constructed, revealing potential mRNA and non-coding RNAs involved in vernalization. Differentially expressed mRNAs, lncRNAs, circRNAs, and miRNAs related to vernalization were identified, along with important genes involved in the regulation of flowering time in Chinese cabbage.

Comparative analysis of long noncoding RNAs in angiosperms and characterization of long noncoding RNAs in response to heat stress in Chinese cabbage

Xiaoming Song et al.

Summary: Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) play critical roles in response to abiotic stresses, but their functions in Chinese cabbage under heat stress are largely unknown. A comprehensive analysis of lncRNAs in Chinese cabbage identified differentially expressed heat-responsive lncRNAs and revealed their interactions within ceRNA network involving miRNAs and mRNAs related to heat response. Furthermore, the cis- and trans-regulated genes of DE lncRNAs were found to be enriched in specific pathways, with connections to genes involved in protein processing and plant hormone signal transduction.

LncRNA TCONS_00021861 is functionally associated with drought tolerance in rice (Oryza sativa L.) via competing endogenous RNA regulation

Jiajia Chen et al.

Summary: Water deficit is a stress that affects plant growth and crop production, and the regulatory mechanism of lncRNAs as ceRNA in drought response is unclear. In this study, a ceRNA network involving 40 lncRNAs, 23 miRNAs, and 103 mRNAs was constructed in rice under drought conditions. The TCONS_00021861/miR528-3p/YUCCA7 axis was identified as a key hub in the drought response, with TCONS_00021861 regulating YUCCA7 by sponging miR528-3p.
