Cracking resistance evaluation of epoxy asphalt mixtures with 100% reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP)

Yulou Fan et al.

Summary: The objective of this study is to evaluate the cracking resistance of recycled mixtures containing 100% reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) using epoxy asphalt. The effects of temperatures, epoxy proportions, and gradations on cracking resistance were explored. Statistical analysis shows that temperatures and epoxy proportions have significant effects on the cracking behavior, and a new index (CRCS) was proposed to evaluate and rank the cracking resistance of epoxy-recycled mixtures.

Preparation and Properties of Cold-Mixed Epoxy-Asphalt Mixture Based on Fractal Theory

Shuai Zhang et al.

Summary: Cold-mixed epoxy-asphalt mixture (CMEAM) has gained attention in steel bridge pavement construction due to its road performance and low gas emissions. Fractal theory was used to distinguish gradations and factors like stone-on-stone contact and stability were considered for design parameters. Test results showed that fractal dimensions influenced low-temperature performance and moisture stability, meeting technical requirements.

Analysis of skeleton contact stability of graded aggregates system and its effect on slip creep properties of asphalt mixture

Shengfei Sun et al.

Summary: Geometric characteristics of aggregates are essential in forming the gradation skeleton and influencing the deformation characteristics of asphalt mixture. This study proposed a Skeleton Stability Index (SSI) based on the idea of variable weight to represent the skeleton contact stability of graded aggregate system, while also analyzing the slip creep properties of asphalt mixture. The results show a good correlation between SSI and the maximum slip force (F-m), indicating the effectiveness of SSI in characterizing the skeleton contact stability, and different stages of creep deformation impact the deformation behavior of asphalt mixture.

Comprehensive feasibility evaluation of a high-performance mixture used as the protective course of steel bridge deck pavement

Gang Liu et al.

Summary: This study proposes a high-performance polymer mixture (HPPM) as the protective course for steel bridge deck pavement (SBDP). The material characteristics, cooperative performances, and structural performance of HPPM were evaluated comprehensively through various tests. Comparison studies with other commonly used protective course materials were also conducted. Results suggest that HPPM exhibits excellent properties and can be a good material for protecting SBDP.

Integrated Design of Structure and Material of Epoxy Asphalt Mixture Used in Steel Bridge Deck Pavement

Wen Nie et al.

Summary: This study comprehensively investigates the integrated structural and material design of the epoxy asphalt mixture used in steel bridge deck pavement. The results show that epoxy asphalt concrete has better flexibility with a higher fatigue endurance limit strain level compared to the steel bridge deck pavement, indicating a longer service life can be achieved. Additionally, epoxy asphalt concrete has significant water tightness, protecting the steel plate interface from corrosion and ensuring good bonding performance.
