Acid and steric synergies in industrial Y zeolites for 9, 10-dihydroanthracene hydrocracking

Yanni Guo et al.

Summary: In the hydrocracking of 9, 10-dihydroanthracene, the acid sites and their locations in Y zeolites are crucial. The dominant reaction for industrial Y zeolites is hydrogen transfer, regardless of temperature. Y zeolites with developed mesopores exhibit enhanced ring-opening and cracking ability due to improved molecular transport and accessibility of acid sites. The amount of highly strong Bronsted acid sites in high-silica Y zeolites is crucially related to their ring-opening and cracking ability. The rational elucidation of the reaction processes of 9, 10-dihydroanthracene hydrocracking over industrial Y zeolites with different properties.

Effects of Intimacy between Acid and Metal Sites on the Isomerization of n-C16 at the Large/Minor Nanoscale and Atomic Scale

Junhao Sun et al.

Summary: This study designed acid-metal bifunctional catalysts with different levels of intimacy between acid and metal sites and investigated their effect on the isomerization of long-chain alkanes. The intimacy at different scales was controlled through specific methods, and the intimacy level had varying impacts on the isomerization process.

Structure-performance relationship of NiMo/Al2O3-HY catalysts in selective hydrocracking of poly-aromatics to mono-aromatics

Lin Qi et al.

Summary: This study investigated the conversion of poly-aromatic hydrocarbons into mono-aromatic hydrocarbons and the factors influencing the performance of composite catalysts. The results showed that the hydrogenation activity and yield of mono-aromatic hydrocarbons were strongly correlated with the density of MoS2 active sites and Bronsted acid sites. The NiMo/A(30)Y(50) catalyst with high density of active sites exhibited the best performance in selective hydrocracking reactions, even in the presence of ammonia in the feed.

Competitive and sequence reactions of typical hydrocarbon molecules in diesel fraction hydrocracking - a theoretical study by DFT calculations

Ji-Feng Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the hydrocracking reactions of different hydrocarbons with varying saturation degrees and molecular weights in diesel fractions using the Ni-Mo-S nanocluster and Al-Si FAU zeolite as catalysts. The results showed that the molecular structures of hydrocarbon molecules played a significant role in determining the reaction pathways. Saturated hydrocarbons were primarily controlled by dehydrogenation and C-C bond cracking, while cyclic aromatic hydrocarbons were mainly controlled by protonation of the aromatic ring. Aromatic hydrocarbons exhibited a strong adsorption advantage on the Ni-Mo-S active sites, while higher molecular weight hydrocarbons had a moderate adsorption advantage on both Ni-Mo-S active sites and FAU zeolite acid centers.

Selective removal of sulfur from 3-methyl thiophene under mild conditions over NiW/Al2O3-TiO2 modified by surfactants

J. N. Diaz de Leon et al.

Summary: Experimental analysis showed that Al2O3-TiO2 binary mixed oxides can be used as supports of NiW hydrodesulfurization catalysts. The use of different surfactants led to significant differences in pore-size distribution, surface composition, and morphology. Additionally, XPS analysis confirmed the surface enrichment with alumina, impacting the activity of the NiW catalysts.

Single pot catalyst strategy to branched products via adhesive isomerization and hydrocracking of polyethylene over platinum tungstated zirconia

Brandon C. Vance et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that Pt-WZr is a bifunctional catalyst for LDPE hydrocracking, leading to higher value branched alkanes. The metal-to-acid site molar ratio (MAB) can shift the product distribution and increase the isomerization degree in the residual polymer. This research provides a blueprint for designing effective catalysts for hydrocracking polyolefin plastic wastes using MAB as a catalyst descriptor.

Andrii Kostyniuk et al.

Summary: This experimental study examined the effects of various NiMo-promoted catalysts on gas phase hydrocracking, hydrogenation, and isomerization, finding that certain catalysts exhibited high activity, selectivity, and stability in producing 2-methylnaphthalene as a product. The physical and chemical properties of the specific catalyst played a crucial role in determining its catalytic performance.

Selective hydrocracking of light cycle oil into high-octane gasoline over bi-functional catalysts

Zhengkai Cao et al.

Summary: The study investigated the hydrocracking behaviors of typical aromatics in light cycle oil over NiMo and CoMo catalysts. It found that CoMo catalyst could hydrosaturate naphthalene to tetralin more efficiently, but had lower yield of high-value light aromatics compared to NiMo catalyst. NiMo catalyst showed higher selectivity in converting naphthalene into cyclanes than CoMo catalyst.

Catalytic hydrogenation, hydrocracking and isomerization reactions of biomass tar model compound mixture over Ni-modified zeolite catalysts in packed bed reactor

Andrii Kostyniuk et al.

Summary: Gas-phase conversion of a model mixture of biomass tar into 2-methylnaphthalene liquid product and ethylene and propane gas mixture over different zeolites and metal promoted zeolites was investigated. The 5 wt%Ni/H-ZSM-5 catalyst showed the highest selectivity to 2-methylnaphthalene in the liquid phase and total conversion in the gas phase with high ethylene and propane content after 24 hours on stream, attributed to its unique pore structure and strong acid sites.

Selective Hydrocracking Polyaromatics into Light Aromatics: the Separation of Hydrogenation Center and Cracking Center

Zhengkai Cao et al.

Summary: In this study, serial combined catalysts with separated hydrogenation and cracking centers were synthesized and compared with conventional bifunctional catalysts. The results showed that the serial combined catalysts had higher yields of light aromatics with higher octane values, indicating the potential for improved catalytic performance in hydrocracking processes.
