High frictional stability of braking material reinforced by Basalt fibers

Kun Yu et al.

Summary: This study aims to develop a high frictional stability friction material using Basalt fiber (BF). The results demonstrate that the BF can improve the mechanical, thermal properties and coefficient of friction (COF) of the brake material while enhancing the frictional stability. The mechanism of frictional stability of BF is explained in detail at both macro and micro levels.

A comprehensive study on the particulate matter characteristics of a friction material containing blast furnace slags

Priyadarshini Jayashree et al.

Summary: Recent studies have shown that adding blast furnace (BF) slags has positive effects on the friction and wear properties of different composite materials. This unique study investigated the particulate matter (PM) emissions characteristics of two types of BF slags in detail. The study found that the presence of slags significantly reduced pin wear and emitted particles, while the friction coefficient of the slag specimens was slightly lower than that of the reference sample.

Influence of premixed dual metal sulfides on the tribological performance of copper-free brake friction materials

R. Vijay et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of using premixed dual metal sulfides as a replacement for antimony trisulfide on the tribological performance of brake friction materials. The results show that the brake pads filled with premixed dual metal sulfides have good thermal stability, physical, chemical and mechanical properties, stable friction, and lower wear rate due to better lubrication.

Effect of Bi2S3 on Characteristics of Micro-arc Oxidation Coating formed on TC4 Alloy

Ji Wei Liu et al.

Summary: The addition of Bi2S3 has significant influence on the microstructure and corrosion resistance of the micro-arc oxidation coating. The coating thickness and hardness exhibit significant changes with increasing Bi2S3 concentration, with the best corrosion resistance observed at 0.1 g.L-1 concentration.

Multi-metal sulfide pre-blend combination on the tribological performance of the brake friction material

K. Sathickbasha et al.

Summary: This study investigates the influence of various combinations of metal sulfides on the tribological performance of brake pads. The results show that brake pads containing MoS2, Bi2S3, and SnS2 exhibit better friction stability but poorer wear performance, while those containing MoS2, Bi2S3, and Sb2S3 demonstrate improved wear performance.
