Optical fiber hydrogen sensor based on self-assembled PDMS/Pd-WO3 microbottle resonator

Ya-nan Zhang et al.

Summary: In this paper, a new optical fiber hydrogen sensor based on a self-assembled microbottle resonator was proposed. The sensor was fabricated by coating a single-mode fiber with sensitive materials and forming a microbottle resonator with a tapered fiber. When exposed to hydrogen, the sensor's wavelength shifted due to the changes in the sensitive materials. The experimental results showed high sensitivity and resistance to external humidity and temperature disturbances.

Metal oxide thin films coated evanescent wave based fiber optic VOC sensor

A. Prasanth et al.

Summary: This paper presents an experimental analysis of a fiber optic sensor for volatile organic compounds (VOC) based on evanescent wave and clad modification technique. Different metal oxide thin films were deposited on the optical fiber and characterized using various testing methods. The results show that the SnO2 coated sensor probe exhibits the highest sensor response rate and wavelength shift when detecting IPA.

Design of aluminium oxide (Al2O3) fiber optic gas sensor based on detection of refracted light in evanescent mode from the side-polished modified clad region

S. Devendiran et al.

Summary: The newly proposed fiber optic gas sensor shows excellent gas sensitivity and selectivity, particularly towards acetone gas. Different gas concentrations exhibit distinct characteristics in terms of output light intensity in various modes. The sensor demonstrates a significantly higher sensitivity in evanescent mode compared to transmission mode.
