The influence of receptor expression and clinical subtypes on baseline [18F]FDG uptake in breast cancer: systematic review and meta-analysis

Cornelis M. de Mooij et al.

Summary: This study aimed to quantify the relationship between [18F]FDG uptake of the primary tumour measured by PET-imaging and the immunohistochemical expression of ER, PR, HER2, Ki-67, and clinical subtypes based on these markers in breast cancer patients. The results showed that ER-negative, PR-negative, HER2-positive, and Ki-67-positive breast cancer patients had significantly higher SUVmax levels, while luminal tumors had the lowest and TNBC tumors had the highest SUVmax levels. HER2 overexpression had an intermediate effect.

Head-to-Head Comparison between 18F-FES PET/CT and 18F-FDG PET/CT in Oestrogen Receptor-Positive Breast Cancer: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Arnoldo Piccardo et al.

Summary: F-18-FES PET/CT can help overcome the reduced sensitivity of F-18-FDG PET/CT in ER+ breast cancer. When comparing the diagnostic accuracy of the two methods, lesion-based analysis and patients-based analysis should be considered. The results showed that F-18-FES may be preferred for restaging.

Head-to-Head Evaluation of 18F-FES and 18F-FDG PET/CT in Metastatic Invasive Lobular Breast Cancer

Gary A. Ulaner et al.

Summary: For patients with invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC), F-18-FES PET/CT shows comparable detection of metastases to F-18-FDG PET/CT. In a study, it was found that F-18-FES PET/CT may be more effective at detecting metastatic lesions in ILC patients compared to F-18-FDG PET/CT.
