Nexus of digital platforms, innovation capability, and strategic alignment to enhance innovation performance in the Asia Pacific region: a dynamic capability perspective

Zahid Sarwar et al.

Summary: The direct impact of digital platforms on organizational efficiency, financial performance, and strategy is receiving significant attention from researchers. However, the complex mechanisms and pathways by which digital platforms enhance transformation capacity are still unclear at the global and Asia Pacific levels. This study empirically explores how digital platforms improve organizational innovation performance using dynamic capability theory. The findings demonstrate that digital platform capability enhances an organization's dynamism and innovation performance. Additionally, innovation capability and strategic alignment indirectly influence digital platform capability and innovation performance. The study presents a conceptual model from a dynamic capability perspective, rather than a resource-based view, and tests it using data from 153 Pakistani manufacturing firms.

Repaying the Debt: An Examination of the Relationship between Perceived Organizational Support and Unethical Pro-organizational Behavior by Low Performers

Xiaoyu Wang et al.

Summary: Drawing on social exchange theory, this study examines the conditions under which employees' good intentions motivate them to engage in unethical pro-organizational behavior (UPB) and the mediating role of feelings of indebtedness to the organization. The findings indicate an interactive effect between perceived organizational support and employee performance on UPB, shedding light on the importance of conditional factors in motivating UPB. This study contributes to understanding the UPB decision process by combining employee's intentions with organizational support and performance levels.

Effects of Organizational Embeddedness on Unethical Pro-organizational Behavior: Roles of Perceived Status and Ethical Leadership

Junghyun Lee et al.

Summary: This study examines why individuals who are deeply embedded in the organization may engage in unethical pro-organizational behavior (UPB). It suggests that deeply embedded employees may engage in UPB to promote or maintain their status in the organization, and this relationship is stronger for employees working under managers with low levels of ethical leadership. The results of the study support these hypotheses and provide insights into motivating factors for UPB and its boundary conditions.

Do leaders condone unethical pro-organizational employee behaviors? The complex interplay between leader organizational identification and moral disengagement

Sebastian C. Schuh et al.

Summary: This study examines how leaders respond to unethical pro-organizational behavior (UPB) among employees, and finds that leader perceptions of employee UPB are positively related to leader trust in employees, particularly when leaders strongly identify with the organization or have a strong propensity to morally disengage. Additionally, the study reveals a three-way interaction effect, where leaders trust UPB-enacting employees more when they both strongly identify with the organization and exhibit high levels of moral disengagement, but trust them less when they weakly identify with the organization and report low moral disengagement. Furthermore, leader trust ultimately translates into perceived leader justice toward employees.

Unethical Pro-organizational Behavior and Positive Leader-Employee Relationships

Will Bryant et al.

Summary: LMX plays a mediating role in the relationship between interpersonal justice and UPB willingness, showing a previously-unexplored dark side. While moral identity has a negative direct relationship with UPB, it does not moderate the relationship between LMX and UPB. Our results suggest that high LMX may increase willingness to perform unethical behaviors to benefit one's leader.
