Summary: This study examines the impact of political conflict on frontline workers and their policy implementation practices. Through a case study in Switzerland, the researchers found that frontline workers adapt their practices to protect their professional autonomy and reputation, and to limit the influence of political pressure on policy implementation. They also occasionally engage in blame-avoiding policy implementation to reduce the likelihood of blame attacks.

Summary: This article examines the strategy of 'transnationalization' as a new approach by opposition parties to combat populist-authoritarian governments in Turkey and Hungary. 'Transnationalization' refers to the conscious formation of links with the liberal-democratic world to expand the opposition's room for maneuver at the local and global level. Through a qualitative content analysis of the international Twitter accounts of the mayors of Istanbul and Budapest and elite interviews with officials from these municipalities, the study explores the material, symbolic, and political means of this strategy and the motivations behind it. By addressing the what, how, and why of a transnationalization strategy, the article fills an important gap in the understanding of opposition strategies in competitive authoritarian regimes (CARs).

Summary: This article explores the relationship between pirate parties and populism, particularly focusing on the Czech Pirate Party. The study compares the communication of the Pirates with the Czech parties ANO and SPD, commonly considered populist. The findings suggest that the level of populism in the Pirates' communication is negligible and they cannot be classified as a populist party. Additionally, their anti-establishment appeal is not dominant, but their communication has changed significantly after entering the Parliament.
