Occupational ionizing radiation-induced skin injury among orthopedic surgeons: A clinical survey

Toru Asari et al.

Summary: This study assessed the attitudes and behaviors of orthopedic surgeons towards occupational radiation exposure and found a high prevalence of occupational radiation-induced skin injury. The occupational period and accumulated exposure time were identified as risk factors for radiation-induced skin injury. Therefore, regular examination by dermatologists early in their careers is recommended for orthopedic surgeons, particularly spine surgeons, to detect and treat radiation-induced skin injury.
