Porous polymer networks cross-linked by novel copper Schiff base complex: From synthesis to catalytic activity

David Sorm et al.

Summary: A new ethynylated Schiff base complex, [Cu(SALANI)2], was synthesized and characterized. The 1H NMR spectra of the complex were obtained and interpreted despite its paramagnetic character. Polyacetylene-type micro/mesoporous organometallic networks were prepared by copolymerization with appropriate monomers or by postpolymerization metalation. The new porous organometallic networks exhibited a high specific surface area and Cu2+ content, and showed catalytic activity in the oxidation of linalool to linalool oxide.

Combining Polymerization and Templating toward Hyper-Cross-Linked Poly(propargyl aldehyde)s and Poly(propargyl alcohol)s for Reversible H2O and CO2 Capture and Construction of Porous Chiral Networks

Lucie Havelkova et al.

Summary: Two series of hyper-cross-linked microporous polyacetylene networks with different monomeric units are synthesized. The network structure and properties are modified by hydrolytic deprotection, resulting in higher microporosity and specific surface area. The networks contain reactive functional groups that can reversibly capture CO2 and water vapor, making them promising for cyclic water harvesting. Covalent modification of the networks enables the anchoring of various functional molecules.

Applications of Polyacetylene Derivatives in Gas and Liquid Separation

Manyu Chen et al.

Summary: As a low energy consumption, simple operation and environmentally friendly separation method, membrane separation has attracted extensive attention. Therefore, researchers have designed and synthesized various types of separation membrane, such as metal organic framework (MOF), covalent organic framework (COF), polymer of intrinsic micro-porosity (PIM) and mixed matrix membranes. This article mainly introduces the development and application of substituted polyacetylenes in gas separation and liquid separation based on membrane technology.

The Polymers of Diethynylarenes-Is Selective Polymerization at One Acetylene Bond Possible? A Review

Vyacheslav M. Misin et al.

Summary: This review considers and analyzes the polymerization of all isomers of bifunctional diethynylarenes due to the opening of C equivalent to C bonds. It has been shown that various materials such as heat-resistant and ablative materials, catalysts, sorbents, humidity sensors, can be obtained from polymers of diethynylbenzene. The review discusses different catalytic systems and conditions of polymer synthesis, and emphasizes the importance of the intramolecular structure of the synthesized polymers in determining their properties.

Artifacts and misinterpretations in gas physisorption measurements and characterization of porous solids

Tomas Zelenka et al.

Summary: This contribution critically reviews the use of gas physisorption for the characterization of porous solids, emphasizing the presence of artifacts in experimental data that can lead to misinterpretation of adsorption isotherm analysis results. Issues related to the determination of BET area and pore size distribution are particularly addressed, including the correct selection of the hysteresis loop branch and consideration of network effects. The article discusses pitfalls in both macroscopic and microscopic (DFT, GCMC) analysis methodologies, aiming to provide guidance for accurate calculations and interpretation of physisorption data.

Nanostructured Hypercrosslinked Porous Organic Polymers: Morphological Evolution and Rapid Separation of Polar Organic Micropollutants

Arkaprabha Giri et al.

Summary: This research successfully controlled the morphology of nanostructured hypercrosslinked porous organic polymers using different polymerization methods, resulting in irregular aggregates, rigid spheres, and two-dimensional nanosheets. The study also found that reaction temperature, catalysts, and solvents have significant effects on the morphology. Additionally, sulfonated 2D sheet-like polymers exhibited rapid adsorption kinetics and excellent recyclability for various toxic organic micropollutants in water.

Fulin Yang et al.

Summary: Pd-based catalysts have been applied to prepare functional poly(1-halogen-2-phenylacetylenes) with tetraphenylethene (TPE) units, resulting in high molecular weight polymers with aggregation-induced emission (AIE) characteristics. These polymers exhibit dual-band emission features, which allow them to be used as ratiometric fluorescent probes for chemical detection, with highly sensitive detection capabilities demonstrated with picric acid as a model explosive.

Summary: Polymeric metal complexes were synthesized and polymerized from borane compounds with different ligands. The BH3 groups were removed from the formed polymers, resulting in polyacetylenes with -PPh2 ligands.
