Analysis on desiccant coated heat exchangers based on a new performance parameter and thermodynamic model

Summary: The performance of traditional air-conditioners can be improved by using desiccant coated heat exchangers (DCHEs) to separate sensible and latent loads. This paper develops a thermodynamic model and proposes the cooling power utilization efficiency (CPUE) of the DCHE. The results show that the CPUE of metal-organic framework DCHE is superior to other desiccant types.

Optimization of the hygrothermal performance of novel metal-organic framework (MOF) based humidity pump: A CFD approach

Metal-organic frameworks are expected to enhance the performance of this device. In this study, the hygrothermal performance of a MOF-HP was analyzed using the CFD method. The validated model showed a 1.59 times improvement in moisture removal capacity after parametric optimization.

Summary: The study focused on enhancing the adsorption of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) under high humidity conditions by implanting hydrophobic short-chain polyethylene glycol (PEG) into MIL-101(Cr). The addition of PEG resulted in the formation of new hydrophobic pores that significantly improved adsorption capacity and diffusivity for toluene while reducing those for water. The breakthrough curve showed a 3.3 times increase in toluene working capacity on PEG(5)@MIL-101 at 80% RH compared to pristine MIL-101(Cr).
