Adsorptions of C5F10O decomposed compounds on the Cu-decorated NiS2 monolayer: a first-principles theory

Hailong Wu et al.

Summary: This study investigates the properties of Cu-decorated NiS2 monolayer and its adsorption and sensing performance for C5F10O decomposed species. The Cu atom is found to prefer the H1 site with a formation energy of -3.09 eV. Chemisorption occurs in the Cu-NiS2/C2F6O3 system, while physisorption occurs in the C3F6, CF2O, C2F6, and CF4 systems. The Cu-NiS2 monolayer shows potential as a reusable C3F6 or CF2O sensor and a high-sensitive one-shot C2F6O3 sensor, but is not suitable for C2F6 and CF4 sensing. This work is significant for proposing novel sensing materials for C5F10O-based insulation devices in the power system.

In vivo study on borophene nanoflakes interaction with Tenebrio molitor beetle: viability of hemocytes and short-term immunity effect

Elzbieta Czarniewska et al.

Summary: This study investigated the in vivo biocompatibility of borophene nanoflakes with hemocytes in the Tenebrio molitor model organism. The results showed that the nanoflakes did not induce hemocytotoxicity, reactive oxygen species generation, disturbance in mitochondrial membrane potential, or interference with phagocytosis. These findings provide new insights into the potential biomedical applications of borophene.

A sensitive enzyme-free electrochemical sensor based on a rod-shaped bimetallic MOF anchored on graphene oxide nanosheets for determination of glucose in huangshui

Yi Ma et al.

Summary: In this work, a bimetallic Ni-Co based MOF attached to graphene oxide (GO) was proposed as an electrochemical enzyme-free glucose sensor. The combination of NiCo-MOF and GO enhanced energy transfer, electrocatalytic performance, and provided a larger surface area and more active sites. The newly fabricated NiCo-MOF/GO sensor exhibited outstanding electrochemical activity with a sensitivity of 11,177 μA mM(-1) cm(-2) and a detection limit of 0.23 μM for glucose determination in huangshui.

A novel experimental and density functional theory study on palladium and nitrogen doped few layer graphene surface towards glucose adsorption and electrooxidation

Aykut Caglar et al.

Summary: Few layer graphene (G) and nitrogen-doped few layer graphene (N-doped G) are prepared on Cu foil via chemical vapor deposition (CVD), then transferred to indium tin oxide (ITO) substrate to obtain electrodes. Pd metal is electrodeposited onto the N-doped G/ITO electrode, which is characterized by Raman spectroscopy and SEM-EDX. Analysis shows the successful formation of G and N structures, with the best glucose electrooxidation activity observed on the P-N-doped G/ITO electrode. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations are performed to study the molecular interactions on Pd-modified G and Pd-modified N-doped G surfaces.

Silver cluster (Ag6) decorated coronene as non-enzymatic sensor for glucose and H2O2

Tabish Jadoon et al.

Summary: Silver-graphene quantum dots are potential electrochemical sensors due to their unique electronic properties. A comprehensive study on the electronic properties of silver cluster decorated coronene was conducted, showing their sensing ability for glucose and H2O2. The results suggest that the interaction between analytes and silver decorated coronene is supported by their strong interaction energies.
