Remote sensing identification of urban water pollution source types using hyperspectral data

Xiaolan Cai et al.

Summary: Due to rapid urbanisation, urban water quality has been degraded by increased pollutants. A remote sensing identification method for urban water pollution sources, using unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) hyperspectral images, was established. By analyzing fluorescent components and spectral indices, four types of pollution sources (domestic sewage, terrestrial input, agricultural and algal, and industrial wastewater) were identified. Optical parameters were used to develop an identification method with a recognition accuracy exceeding 70% for the four pollution sources, expanding the application of remote sensing technologies for urban water quality management.

Effects of weight and drop height of hammer on dynamic cone penetration test in loose layer

Geunwoo Park et al.

Summary: The effects of hammer weight and drop height on compression stress, transferred energy, and strength index in loose layer were evaluated in this study using an instrumented dynamic cone penetrometer (IDCP). The dynamic responses and penetration index from the IDCP were obtained with different hammer weights and drop heights. The results showed that the compression stress and transferred energy varied at the rod head and cone tip with respect to the hammer weight and drop height. Furthermore, the IDCPI also varied according to the hammer weight and drop height, even with identical potential energy.

Experimental study on the collapse response of flat slab structures with drop panels under gravity loading condition

Nguyen Trung Hieu et al.

Summary: This paper presents experimental results on the collapse behavior of two reinforced concrete flat slab assemblies subjected to uniformly distributed loads. The main differences between the assemblies were the higher collapse load of one assembly due to additional slab extension and the load redistribution pattern. Both assemblies exhibited elastic behavior until cracking values were reached, followed by stiffness degradation and a long plateau near collapse. Ductile behavior with large deformation capacity was observed in the inelastic region.
