Effect of fluorine-containing thermite coated with potassium perchlorate on the thermal decomposition behavior and kinetics of ammonium perchlorate

Slimane Bekhouche et al.

Summary: In the past decade, the scientific community has extensively studied the decomposition of ammonium perchlorate (AP). This research aims to investigate the effect of nanothermite on the thermal decomposition of AP. MgAl-PTFE nanothermite was mechanically activated through arrested reactive milling, coated with potassium perchlorate (KP), and characterized. The results showed that the phase compositions remained unchanged and the presence of nanothermites promoted the thermal decomposition process of AP by reducing the activation energy by about 6%.

Construction of 3DOM Fe2O3/CuO heterojunction nanomaterials for enhanced AP decomposition

Desheng Yang et al.

Summary: The construction of ordered pore structure and heterostructure interface is an effective strategy to enhance the activity and stability of nano catalysts. In this study, 3D ordered macroporous Fe2O3-supported 2D copper oxide nanofilm was fabricated as a p-n hetero-structure nanocatalyst. The 3DOM Fe2O3/CuO catalyst showed interconnected and ordered macroporous channels, which enriched the reactive oxygen concentration at the Fe2O3-CuO heterostructure interface and exhibited excellent catalytic activity in ammonium perchlorate decomposition reaction.

Application of spherical ultrafine CuO@AP with core-shell in AP/HTPB composite solid propellant

Jie Liu et al.

Summary: To improve the properties of composite solid propellants, a core-shell structure of CuO@AP was prepared and applied in AP/HTPB composite propellants. The CuO@AP propellant demonstrated lower activation energy (E-a) and higher rate constant compared to the CuO/AP propellant. The impact sensitivity of CuO@AP propellant was also lower and had a higher ε(b) value than that of CuO/AP propellant. These findings suggest that CuO@AP composite particles have potential applications in AP/HTPB propellants.
