An updated review of cold shock and cold stress in fish

Connor H. Reid et al.

Summary: Temperature plays a critical role in regulating biological functions in fish. This study provides an updated review of cold shock literature, focusing on the understanding of fish's generalized stress response, quantification of cold stress, and remaining knowledge gaps. The relevance of cold shock to environmental managers, policymakers, and industry professionals is also discussed. Although progress has been made, there are still important topics that have received little attention, highlighting the need for further research in understanding cold shock mechanisms and its effects.

PUMA overexpression dissociates thioredoxin from ASK1 to activate the JNK/BCL-2/BCL-XL pathway augmenting apoptosis in ovarian cancer

Yang Chen et al.

Summary: This study reveals a novel mechanism of PUMA in promoting apoptosis in ovarian cancer by activating ASK1 and subsequently activating the ASK1-JNK axis. Additionally, in vivo experiments demonstrate that PUMA combined with chemotherapy can effectively inhibit the growth of cisplatin-resistant ovarian cancer.

Gene regulation by long non-coding RNAs and its biological functions

Luisa Statello et al.

Summary: Recent studies have shed new light on the biogenesis and functions of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs), showcasing their diverse roles in gene regulation and signaling pathways, particularly in the contexts of neuronal disorders, immune responses, and cancer. The discovery of unique biogenesis pathways and subcellular localizations of lncRNAs has opened up potential therapeutic avenues for targeting lncRNAs in various biological and pathophysiological conditions.
