Functionalization of alumina particles to improve the performance of eco-friendly brake-pads

Vanvirsinh Chauhan et al.

Summary: In this study, alumina particles were treated with siloxane to improve filler-matrix adhesion, leading to the development of two eco-friendly brake pads with a 35% increase in wear resistance. The siloxane treatment positively affected both friction and wear of the brake pads, as observed through SEM and EDAX analysis of worn surfaces.
