Gelatin/monetite electrospun scaffolds to regenerate bone tissue: Fabrication, characterization, and in-vitro evaluation

Yogendra Pratap Singh et al.

Summary: This study is dedicated to the preparation and characterization of electrospun gelatin/monetite nanofibrous scaffold for bone tissue engineering. The addition of monetite nanoparticles in the gelatin matrix improved the physicochemical, mechanical, and biological properties of the scaffold. The incorporation of 7 wt% monetite resulted in decreased swelling ratio, higher tensile strength and modulus, and better cell adhesion, proliferation, biomineralization, and ALP activity.

Fabrication and characterization of PHEMA-gelatin scaffold enriched with graphene oxide for bone tissue engineering

Sara Tabatabaee et al.

Summary: A scaffold composed of PHEMA, gelatin, and GO was fabricated and evaluated for its potential in bone tissue engineering. The scaffold exhibited a porous interconnected structure, good mechanical strength and electrical conductivity. It also demonstrated the ability to induce osteogenesis in stem cells. These findings suggest that the PHEMA-Gel-GO scaffold holds promise for bone tissue regeneration.

Fabrication and Characterization of Gelatin/Polyvinyl Alcohol Composite Scaffold

Mengwen Sun et al.

Summary: In this study, porous scaffold materials based on polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and gelatin (Gel) were successfully fabricated and characterized. The thermal stability of the PVA/Gel composite scaffold was improved by the addition of gelatin, without affecting the microstructure of the PVA scaffold. However, excessive gelatin content weakened the physical and chemical properties of the PVA scaffold.

Extrusion 3D (Bio)Printing of Alginate-Gelatin-Based Composite Scaffolds for Skeletal Muscle Tissue Engineering

Surendrasingh Y. Sonaye et al.

Summary: Volumetric muscle loss (VML) is a severe acute skeletal muscle injury that can be treated using bioprinting methods. In this study, alginate-gelatin composite inks were developed as bioinks, and high-resolution scaffolds for VML treatment were successfully printed using extrusion printing. The optimal parameters for ink formulation and printing were determined, and the printed scaffolds showed potential for treating skeletal muscle defects.
