Solaleh Sadat Kalantari et al.

Summary: This paper examines the pricing policies of a manufacturer selling products online and their impact on motivating a retailer to enter the market and offer selling and leasing options through a brick store. It also analyzes the influence of online shopping preferences and brand image on consumer behavior, considering different consumption patterns. The study utilizes a dynamic game model to determine optimal pricing policies in the second-hand market and explores the factors associated with depreciation, brand image, and online shopping preferences. The findings highlight the importance of brand image, physical utility, and online shopping preferences in the market segmentation and profitability of both manufacturer and retailer.

Service strategies and channel coordination in the age of E-commerce

Nawel Amrouche et al.

Summary: This study examines various service strategies and coordination mechanisms in alleviating online to offline (O2O) competition. It is found that the retailer prefers to pay fully for his offline service instead of accepting monetary support or sharing the cost with the manufacturer. Investing in online service is not beneficial for the manufacturer as it worsens the competition. The new mechanism combining revenue sharing and offline service paid by the retailer has a competitive advantage in coordinating the O2O competition.

Marketplace, reseller, or web-store channel: The impact of return policy and cross-channel spillover from marketplace to web-store

Amir Mohammad Alaei et al.

Summary: This paper analyzes the conditions under which manufacturers choose marketplace or reseller channel in addition to their web-store channels to grow their market share in the e-commerce industry. By considering a model with two manufacturers and one e-tailer, the study finds that offering a return policy in web-store channels does not affect the choice between marketplace and reseller channel, but it impacts the manufacturers' profits in each channel. Furthermore, it demonstrates that as the coefficient of cross-channel effect increases, the manufacturers' profits increase regardless of offering a return policy.

Committed or contingent? The retailer's information acquisition and sharing strategies when confronting manufacturer encroachment

Huaqing Hu et al.

Summary: This study investigates how a retailer strategically acquires and shares consumer quality preference information when facing manufacturer encroachment, comparing committed acquisition and contingent acquisition strategies. It suggests that contingent acquisition is a weakly dominant strategy when the manufacturer's direct selling efficiency is high, while the retailer is advised to commit to acquiring information in specific conditions. Sharing information only occurs when the direct selling efficiency is high, allowing the retailer to induce a lower wholesale price, gain market share, and achieve a win-win situation.
