Forecasting carbon price using a multi-objective least squares support vector machine with mixture kernels

Bangzhu Zhu et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a new multi-objective least squares support vector machine model to improve asset price forecasting accuracy and trading performance by incorporating mixture kernel function and multi-objective fitness function. Results show that high directional forecasting typically leads to higher trading performance.

How to promote the effective implementation of China's Renewable Portfolio Standards considering non-neutral technology?

Xin-gang Zhao et al.

Summary: Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS) as a strategic requirement that fits China's top-level institution design for low-carbon energy transition, will help promote China's energy structure optimization and power market reform. The successful implementation of RPS depends on the scientific quasi-parameters design of the system.

Interval forecasting of carbon price: A novel multiscale ensemble forecasting approach

Bangzhu Zhu et al.

Summary: This study proposes a novel integrated approach for carbon price interval forecasting. The approach combines BEMD decomposition, XGB prediction, and DE algorithm for parameter optimization. The empirical results show that this approach outperforms other popular prediction models in terms of higher coverage rate and lower prediction error in the Guangdong and Hubei carbon markets. The sensitivity analysis also confirms the robustness of the proposed approach.

Renewable energy investment and carbon emissions under cap-and-trade mechanisms

Wei Chen et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impacts of cap-and-trade mechanisms on a utility firm's decisions in renewable energy investment, showing that different mechanisms can lead to varying levels of investment and carbon emissions. Properly setting carbon quotas by the government can promote emission reduction and maintain electricity demand balance.

Induction mechanism and optimization of tradable green certificates and carbon emission trading acting on electricity market in China

Tian-tian Feng et al.

Summary: China has set emission reduction targets for 2030 and 2060, and implemented CET and TGC to achieve these goals. Through simulation and policy synergy modeling, it was found that TGC and CET systems can optimize power supply structure and slow down the growth rate of CO2 emissions.

Coordination of tradable carbon emission permits market and renewable electricity certificates market in China

Ge Wang et al.

Summary: The study shows that establishing coordinated carbon emission quotas and renewable energy markets in China will be more economically efficient, and can achieve the dual goals of reducing carbon emissions and promoting renewable energy pursued by the government. Coordinated markets can reduce market risks, maintain lower price levels, and lower consumers' electricity purchase costs.
