A hollow in hollow nanoreactor of H-PtCu@SiO2 for the selective transfer hydrogenation

Rongxiu Guo et al.

Summary: The hollow PtCu nanoparticles encapsulated in microporous silica shells serve as high-performance nanoreactors in catalysis, achieving excellent conversion and selectivity for the transfer hydrogenation reaction. The silica shell plays a crucial role in limiting diffusion, reducing reductant concentration, and improving selectivity of the reaction, while also enhancing the catalytic stability of the nanoreactor.

Tailoring polysulfide trapping and kinetics by engineering hollow carbon bubble nanoreactors for high-energy Li-S pouch cells

Lei Wang et al.

Summary: A novel carbon foam integrated by hollow carbon bubble nanoreactors with ultrahigh pore volume was designed for high sulfur content and tailored polysulfide trapping and ion/electron transport kinetics. In-situ Raman spectroscopy further enhanced the understanding of electrochemical reaction mechanism for the cathode, leading to high specific capacitances and exceptional practical energy density in Li-S pouch cells.

Spatial Location and Microenvironment Engineering of Pt-CeO2 Nanoreactors for Selective Hydrogenation of Cinnamaldehyde to Cinnamyl Alcohol

Liwei Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the application of Pt-CeO2 nanoreactors in selective hydrogenation reactions, and finds that Pt@Fe-CeO2 exhibits excellent catalytic performance with high selectivity for cinnamyl alcohol (COL) in the hydrogenation of cinnamaldehyde (CAL). The variations in electronic and crystal structure after Fe doping, along with the linear adsorption of CAL on the CeO2 hollow structure, contribute to the high performance of selective hydrogenation to COL.

Hydrotalcite-Supported Cobalt Phosphide Nanorods as a Highly Active and Reusable Heterogeneous Catalyst for Ammonia-Free Selective Hydrogenation of Nitriles to Primary Amines

Min Sheng et al.

Summary: An air-stable, active, and reusable non-noble-metal-based heterogeneous catalyst, hydrotalcite-supported cobalt phosphide nanorods (Co2P NR/HT), has been developed for the selective hydrogenation of nitriles to primary amines. The catalyst shows broad substrate generality and high activity under mild conditions, enabling nitrile hydrogenation with high yields without the need for ammonia.

Boosting photocatalytic coupling of amines to imines over BiOBr: Synergistic effects derived from hollow microsphere morphology

Saranya Juntrapirom et al.

Summary: The study found that BiOBr with a hollow microsphere structure (B-HMS) has significantly higher imine yield in visible-light-driven photocatalytic coupling of primary amines compared to BiOBr with microflower (B-MF) and microplate (B-MP) morphologies. This is attributed to its strong light absorption, high active surface area, efficient charge transfer, and high oxygen vacancy content, leading to enhanced photoactivity.

Synthesis of CdS/CoP hollow nanocages with improved photocatalytic water splitting performance for hydrogen evolution

Yangyang Zou et al.

Summary: In this study, a CdS/CoP composite photocatalyst with hollow structures was successfully prepared by modifying CoP on the surface of CdS using a sacrificial template method. Compared to pure CdS, the CdS/CoP nanocage showed enhanced photocatalytic hydrogen production performance. The formation of a p-n heterojunction between CdS and CoP was found to be the key factor for the improved photocatalytic performance. This study provides a simple strategy for constructing more hollow nanocomposite catalysts with excellent photocatalytic performance.
