Comparison of Continuous Real Time Blood Glucose Measurement With Venous Laboratory Blood Glucose Level in Neonates During Perioperative Period

Mohammed Abdul Wasiq et al.

Summary: The objective of this study was to compare continuous real-time blood glucose measurement with venous laboratory blood glucose level in neonates during the perioperative period. The results showed that CG measurement had a good correlation with LG and had higher reliability for euglycemic state than for hyperglycemia. The continuous trend of glucose measurement by CG was helpful for timely diagnosis of hyperglycemia during the perioperative period in neonates.

Safety and feasibility of a factory-calibrated continuous glucose monitoring system in term and near-term infants at risk of hypoglycemia

Eri Nishimura et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the feasibility and accuracy of a factory-calibrated continuous glucose monitoring system in neonates, finding a good correlation between CGMS values and blood glucose concentrations. However, there was a tendency for CGMS to overestimate blood glucose concentrations, especially within 3 hours after sensor placement, suggesting cautious use for neonates at risk of hypoglycemia.
