The impact of local vaccine coverage and recent incidence on measles transmission in France between 2009 and 2018

Alexis Robert et al.

Summary: Subnational heterogeneity in immunity to measles can lead to pockets of susceptibility and long-lasting outbreaks despite high national vaccine coverage. High local vaccine coverage is associated with lower risks of transmission, but recent high incidence levels may also decrease local transmission risk due to accumulated immunity. However, countries that meet elimination criteria may not have lower risks of outbreaks, indicating the need for more detailed models to assess local risk of measles outbreaks.

Evolution between 2008 and 2018 of mothers' perception regarding vaccination and infant vaccine coverage in France

A. Martinot et al.

Summary: Monitoring vaccination coverage rates is crucial for evaluating the effectiveness of vaccine policies. The French Vaccinoscopy study found stable and high vaccination coverage rates for certain diseases, with improvements in others. The implementation of mandatory infant vaccination led to a significant increase in mothers' support for vaccination.

The role of alternative and complementary medical practices in vaccine hesitancy among nurses: A cross-sectional survey in Brittany

A. Thomire et al.

Summary: The study found a connection between the use of alternative and complementary medical practices (CAM) and vaccine hesitancy (VH) among nurses. However, CAM use appears to be largely independent of VH, with trust in medical institutions playing an important role in shaping this relationship.

Is there a role for childhood vaccination against COVID-19?

Christiane Sigrid Eberhardt et al.

Summary: Efforts are being made to develop COVID-19 vaccines quickly to protect vulnerable individuals and limit the impacts of the pandemic. The low incidence and severity of COVID-19 in children raise questions about the need for childhood vaccination, with vaccines needing to demonstrate safety and efficacy in preventing complications and transmission. The pandemic has also negatively affected routine childhood vaccine coverage, necessitating action to prevent a rise in vaccine-preventable diseases.

Evolution of Bordetella pertussis over a 23-year period n France, 1996 to 2018

Valerie Bouchez et al.

Summary: The study found that the proportion of PRN-deficient B. pertussis isolates has been steadily increasing in France over a 23-year period, and there has been a shift from FIM3 to FIM2 fimbriae expression. However, excluding PRN, the loss of vaccine antigen expression by circulating B. pertussis isolates is epidemiologically insignificant.
