Optimization of FDM 3D printing parameters for high strength PEEK using the Taguchi method and experimental validation

Summary: Recently, 3D-printed PEEK components have shown extensive applications in advanced electronics, 5G communication, medical implants, and aerospace. However, the weak interfacial bonding strength has been a critical limitation. A novel method proposed in this study improves the interfacial bonding strength by enhancing the plasticizing effect of benzene derivatives, resulting in significantly increased bonding strengths for 3D-printed components. The enhancing mechanism using pyrolysis products derived from POSS was characterized, expanding the design space for developing 3D-printed materials with satisfactory interfacial bonding strength.
