Men's gendered experiences of rehabilitation and recovery following traumatic brain injury: A reflexive thematic analysis

Summary: Research suggests that gender plays a role in men's health beliefs and behaviors, including those related to traumatic brain injury (TBI). Therefore, this qualitative study aimed to explore how gender influences men's perceptions and behaviors in TBI rehabilitation and recovery. The study identified three key themes: undermining treatment, facilitating recovery, and perceptions on return to work. These findings can inform the development of gender-informed therapy strategies and materials.

The association of increasing resilience with positive health outcomes among older adults

Summary: The objective of this study was to investigate different levels of resilience and their impact on quality of life, healthcare utilization and expenditures, and preventive services compliance. The study sample consisted of adults aged 65 and older. The results showed that increasing the number of other protective factors, reducing stress, and avoiding depression were the strongest predictors of medium and high resilience. Individuals with medium and high resilience had higher quality of life and lower healthcare utilization and expenditures. Integrating resilience strategies into healthy aging programs could lead to improvements in quality of life and healthcare outcomes.
