Bioremoval of toxic malachite green from water through simultaneous decolorization and degradation using laccase immobilized biochar

Deepshikha Pandey et al.

Summary: In this study, laccase was successfully immobilized on pine needle biochar and used for the decolorization and degradation of malachite green dye. The immobilized laccase showed high binding and immobilization yield. It retained significant activity in a wide range of pH and temperature conditions and exhibited good reusability. The immobilized laccase effectively removed malachite green dye from water, with more than 85% removal observed within 5 hours. The degradation process resulted in less toxic metabolites compared to the original dye. This study highlights the potential of laccase immobilized biochar as an efficient biocatalyst for dye removal in water.

Enzyme-enhanced adsorption of laccase immobilized graphene oxide for micro-pollutant removal

Wenting Zhou et al.

Summary: This study investigates the water purification performance of laccase immobilized graphene oxide (Lac-GO) and explores the mechanism of enzyme-enhanced adsorption. The results show that laccase immobilization does not affect the adsorption behavior of graphene oxide, but the enzyme-enhanced adsorption process exhibits higher adsorption capacity and rate due to the enzymatic degradation of adsorbed micro-pollutants. Furthermore, the study reveals a clear synergy mechanism between adsorption and enzymatic degradation, leading to improved micro-pollutant removal.

Immobilization of Trametes Versicolor laccase on Cu-alginate beads for biocatalytic degradation of bisphenol A in water: Optimized immobilization, degradation and toxicity assessment

Abdul Latif et al.

Summary: In this study, laccase was immobilized on Cu-alginate beads using an entrapment method for the degradation of bisphenol A (BPA) in aqueous medium. The optimized immobilization conditions were determined to be 3% sodium alginate concentration, 0.141 mM CuSO4 concentration, and 90 min hardening time. The immobilized laccase showed efficient degradation of BPA in both synthetic and real water samples, making it a promising candidate for BPA removal in water treatment applications.

Summary: This study investigates the performance of AGS-MBR in mitigating membrane fouling and reveals the scouring mechanism of AGS on membrane fouling. The results show that AGS-MBR has a low fouling rate and higher removal of organics and nutrients compared to conventional MBR. The scouring effect of AGS contributes significantly (39.9%) to mitigate membrane fouling.

Zhaobo Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, laccase was immobilized on cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB)-KOH modified biochar (CKMB) by adsorption method to improve its stability. The immobilized laccase showed significantly enhanced storage and pH stability compared to free laccase, with high activity recovery and reusability. The results suggest that laccase@CKMB has potential for industrial applications as it possesses relatively better stabilities and cost-effective characteristics.
