The results confirmed that this specimen represents one of the earliest domesticated dogs in Europe, supporting the idea that dogs were the first species to be domesticated by humans.

The specific effects of the environment on hunting decisions are still not well understood, and questions remain about subsistence specialization and hunting strategies in response to changing circumstances. Studies of faunal assemblages at El Miron cave support general continuity patterns observed at regional sites in Cantabria.
