A thermal conductivity prediction model of cement-based grouts for ground source heat pump

Shihao Dong et al.

Summary: This study developed a thermal conductivity prediction model for cement-based materials, which can predict the influence of multiple factors on thermal conductivity and has high accuracy. The model has important implications for engineering applications and can predict a wide range of proportions.

Carbon nanofibers (CNFs) dispersed in ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC): Mechanical property, workability and permeability investigation

Linfei Li et al.

Summary: Experimental data on the effect of carbon nano-fiber dispersion on the mechanical behavior, workability, and permeability of ultra-high-performance concrete containing CNF are presented in this study. Shear mixing and subsequent ultrasonic dispersion with chemical surfactants are found to be effective in achieving well-dispersed CNFs in liquid admixture, resulting in high mechanical performance of UHPC-CNF composites.

Mechanical performance evolution and life prediction of prestressed CFRP plate exposed to hygrothermal and freeze-thaw environments

Guijun Xian et al.

Summary: The study highlights the significant role of long-term prestressed loss and mechanical property evolution in steel/concrete structures strengthened with prestressed CFRP plates. A new prestressed tension device and anchorage system were proposed to enhance the reliability and load-bearing capacity of CFRP plates. Exposure of CFRP plates to elevated temperatures, distilled water, and sustained loading resulted in gradual degradation of tensile strength.

Durability of flexurally strengthened RC beams with prestressed CFRP sheet under wet-dry cycling in a chloride-containing environment

Zhongyu Lu et al.

Summary: Using prestressed CFRP sheets can significantly improve the flexural performance of RC beams, with a 15% prestressing level resulting in around a 50% increase in cracking and ultimate loads. The inclusion of inclined U-jackets enhances the flexural performance and changes the failure mode from CFRP debonding to CFRP fracture. Exposure to chloride-containing environments leads to increased prestress losses, but a 90-day exposure in simulated subtropical marine climate does not significantly affect the flexural performance of the strengthened RC beams.

Performance characterization of plain and CFRP-bonded concrete subjected to sulfuric acid

Yongcheng Ji et al.

Summary: This study investigates the durability performance of concrete subjected to sulfuric acid exposure. The absorption of sulfuric acid leads to a decrease in concrete mass, with CFRP layer improving the integrity of the concrete. Changes in microstructure and mechanical properties of concrete after sulfuric acid treatment, as well as the bonding performance of CFRP, are observed. The exposure period affects the deterioration and mechanical properties of concrete and CFRP interface bonding characteristics.
