Exclusive production of a pair of high transverse momentum photons in pion-nucleon collisions for extracting generalized parton distributions

Jian-Wei Qiu et al.

Summary: In this study, we demonstrate that the exclusive production of high transverse momentum photons in pion-nucleon collisions can be studied systematically using the QCD factorization approach. The leading power non-perturbative contributions to the scattering amplitudes of this process can be factorized into universal pion's distribution amplitudes and nucleon's generalized parton distributions, convoluted with corresponding short-distance hard parts. The corrections to this factorized expression are suppressed by powers of 1/q(T). This type of exclusive processes not only complements existing processes for extracting GPDs, but also provides enhanced sensitivity to the dependence of both distribution amplitudes and generalized parton distributions on the active parton's momentum fraction x.

Generalized parton distributions through universal moment parameterization: zero skewness case

Yuxun Guo et al.

Summary: We present a global analysis program based on conformal moment expansion for the generalized parton distributions (GPDs). We use the strategy of universal moment parameterization to fit both the collinear parton distribution functions (PDFs) from phenomenology and generalized form factors from lattice calculations. The parameterization is flexible enough to accommodate these constraints, and can also fit direct lattice calculations of GPDs from large-momentum effective theory. We focus on analyzing t-dependent PDFs in this work, which correspond to GPDs in the xi -> 0 limit. The strategy also applies to the xi not equal 0 region with extra parameters, and can be fitted to experimental observables in the future. Through a demonstrative example, we show the quark transverse angular momentum densities of the proton and the impact parameter space distributions of quarks in both unpolarized and transversely polarized protons.

Phenomenology of diphoton photoproduction at next-to-leading order

O. Grocholski et al.

Summary: This study focuses on diphoton exclusive photoproduction in the kinematics where collinear QCD factorization framework applies. The results show that the predictions for cross sections are sensitive to various models of generalized parton distributions (GPDs). Despite the large and negative NLO corrections, the reaction studied remains a promising tool for extracting C-odd GPDs.

Determination of the generalized parton distributions through the analysis of the world electron scattering data considering two-photon exchange corrections

Hadi Hashamipour et al.

Summary: We determined the values and uncertainties of the valence generalized parton distributions (GPDs) H-v(q) and E-v(q) through an analysis of world electron scattering data and found that there are not enough constraints on GPDs E-v(q). By including new data on the charge and magnetic radius of the nucleon, we were able to impose new constraints on the final GPDs, especially on E-v(q). Furthermore, our results on the gravitational form factor M-2 and the total angular momentum J(q), calculated using the extracted GPDs, are in good agreement with pure theoretical predictions.

First Measurement of Timelike Compton Scattering

P. Chatagnon et al.

Summary: The study presents the first measurement of the timelike Compton scattering process with results on photon beam polarization and decay lepton angular asymmetries. It investigates the sensitivity to the imaginary part of the Compton form factors and provides a way to test the universality of the generalized parton distributions, while also accessing the real part of the Compton form factors and the D-term in the parametrization of the generalized parton distributions through the angular asymmetry of the decay leptons.

Transition distribution amplitudes and hard exclusive reactions with baryon number transfer

B. Pire et al.

Summary: This article discusses the general properties and physical interpretation of baryon-to-meson and baryon-to-photon transition distribution amplitudes (TDAs), suggesting that these non-perturbative objects are a convenient tool to explore baryon structure at the partonic level. It also provides an overview of hard exclusive reactions and explores experimental opportunities at various facilities.

Collinear factorization of diphoton photoproduction at next to leading order

O. Grocholski et al.

Summary: This study calculates the amplitude for the photoproduction of a near forward large mass diphoton at leading twist and next to leading order in the framework of collinear factorization. The validity of factorization at this order is demonstrated, with the NLO result probing the whole domain of definition of quark GPDs with both real and imaginary parts. Phenomenology of the results for medium (JLab) and higher energy (EIC) experiments will be developed in future studies.
