Reporting incidental coronary, aortic valve and cardiac calcification on non-gated thoracic computed tomography, a consensus statement from the BSCI/BSCCT and BSTI

Michelle Claire Williams et al.

Summary: Incidental coronary and cardiac calcification should be reviewed and reported on non-gated thoracic CT scans, with a simple patient-based score and recommendations for subsequent management. Additionally, other cardiac calcifications, such as aortic valve calcification, should also be identified and reported.

Coronary CT Calcium Score in Patients With Prior Nongated CT, Is it Necessary?

Joan M. Chi et al.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the percentage of patients with prior nongated chest CTs undergoing gated coronary artery calcium score CTs, and assess the accuracy of these prior images in detecting coronary calcium. The findings showed a correlation between the ordinal score on chest CTs and the Agatston score on gated calcium score CTs, as well as the underreporting of coronary calcium burden information in some cases.
